Has anyone put in colder spark plugs after the tune? Just curious as that seems to be a common change for tuning the EB engines?

I'm stock besides the tune.
Yes I am running 1 step colder plugs. I asked Livernois and they seemed indifferent. Weren't recommending it but also said it wouldn't hurt

I have other mods though. You might be fine without the plugs if you just have a tune, but also wouldn't hurt from what I have gathered from Livernois and my own research

Came here for moral support. My truck currently still looks stock outside the AlphaRex headlights, however my second bedroom is FILLED with parts. Just waiting for my wheels/tires to ship from 4WP. Was gonna run 33's with the stock tune, started reading more about this tuner from Livernois and the results gained with larger tires and have basically convinced myself I need this tune/tuner.

Any advice? Anything I should be concerned about? Literally have never used a tuner before- my ST was basically stock for it's entire life.

I appreciate the input. Parts are listed on my build page if anyone is interested in following.

I was on the fence about getting it for months and all I can say is I wish I did it sooner! It's like driving in S mode on steroids. ? What's nice is you receive all 5 of their tunes to try out and see which one works best for you. I would recommend leaving it in for at least a couple tanks to adjust itself. I've been running the 91-93 performance tune since last August and love that one but some love the tow tune and the lower end power of it.

I have 32's and it you can recalibrate the speedo with this too. When I first added them and the 2.5" level I lost about 1-2 mpg but since tuning have gained that back as long as you drive it somewhat normal. You can see my average in my sig and I do a few WOT every now and then. ;) Their customer service is excellent and they will walk you through the instal if needed but it's very easy with the directions they provide. I have never tuned any of my trucks before but I'm glad I did with this one.

I second this. The customer service and ability to choose from the 5 tunes is awesome. I ran the performance tune for a long time and loved it but now running the tow tune and, while it's not quite as peppy, you can definitely get it moving when you need to.

Haven’t tried any of the other tunes other than 91-93 performance tune. Haven’t had any need to . Please Let me know how the tow tune works out for you. I found that after a little while, regular “D” mode in the performance tune just didn’t feel as quick (assuming I just got used to it) but “S” still feels like a rocket. Anyone else feel a night and day difference between “D” and “S” on the tune? I started feeling like “D” was almost “stockish” if that makes sense ?
About a month after I installed mine I called Livernois to see if they had anything else or if they could tweak it for more power. lol I guess I just got use to it because it didn't feel all that different anymore. Plus it was August and still 110+ out but as soon as fall came and the cooler crisp air set in it felt like a rocket again. ?
I was thinking the same thing, especially after taking a trip yesterday. But, maybe we have "learned" along with the mechanicals all along.

for example, a bit longer idle at start, right amount of throttle on first shift of cold engine...all those "little" things that improve drivability.

Last 3 or 4 weeks I have thought how smooth the tune was, now it seems unobtrusive, but it's waiting for that tromp. 0-60 is no effort and 60-80 seems instantaneously quiet/smooth.

So, now you've become a tune driver and can still blow them away at the green and smok'm till you shred'm.:)

I was on the fence for a long time like @AzScorpion, but just like everyone else has said, it’s 100% worth it! Have had it tuned a few months now and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Livernois is responsive, easy to work with, and I don’t think you can beat their customer service, and that’s not evening mentioning how clean/good the tune is! Have only tried the 91-93 performance tune (I have all of them) but I love it so much I have not had any need to try any others haha. Driving around in “D” mode feels not too different than stock unless you stomp just a little bit, or you can put in in “S” and it feels like you’re in a different vehicle, in the best way possible! If you pull the trigger, I guarantee you’ll be happy you did. Hope this helps.

why switch to the tow tune? MPGs vs SPGs (Smiles Per Gallon)?

I hadn't tried it before and will be towing a little this year. Plus, as Frenchy stated I plan on offroading a lot and wanted to see how it compared to the performance tune for that purpose.
When I do use the performance tune, I find the 'softer shift' version to be more dailyable.

Has anyone paired the Livernois tune with a cold air intake? I'm thinking about getting their tune and also adding a Roush cold air intake. I just installed a 2.5 coilover with 33" tires.. So I'm definitely feeling the hit in MPG. I'm hoping to get some of that back. Any feedback is appreciated.

Sorry I cant help much with the CAI I only did the tune but I know I've read that some have done the CAI too. I'm just not sure if they had the Livernois tune, Unleashed or the Ford tune.

I have the Mishimoto CAI with the tune and what I noticed is better and smoother shifting in lower gears. But I also have bolted on cat back and down pipe so it could be product of all of those combined. But I was very satisfied with it.

Everything I've read and heard indicates that a CAI is not going to do much for a noticeable increase in HP, tune or no tune, other than look cool to some people.

Mishimoto does some extensive research on their products. Even with their CAI, they indicate that it's dyno-proven for UP TO 6.3 HP and 7.9 lb-ft of torque. That means in the best of conditions. To me, that's a poor return on the $$ spent for just over 6 HP.

Can’t speak on CAI intake either but I did consider that for a while, Mishimoto seems to be the one with the most HP/torque gain but when all is said and done I could not justify the $$ for the 6hp gain or so. I do have the 3 inch catback exhaust from MBRP to open it up a bit. From what I’ve read our stock intake does a pretty decent job, I’ve been tip toeing around possibly getting the AEM drop in dry filter for about $40, might get 2hp gain ?
