I knew I wanted the 5th Gen Ranger, as soon as I heard about its' release in the USA. Technically, I wanted the 2012 Australia version when I noticed Ford didn't stop building it... I would've bought a 2019, but wasn't financially set too back then, so I bought a new 2021 in October! Love it so far, just slowly waiting for all my parts to show up.
All that being said, I did look at the Tacoma. I attempted to test drive a '21 Tacoma Crew Cab TRD Sport 4X4, which listed for a little over $40k, this past April. With the seat slid all the way back, my legs were still in a funky, uncomfortable position and my head/hair was touching the headliner... I did like it was a naturally aspirated V6, but it has roughly the same power that the Ranger did and the Ranger's easier to get more power out of.
The Taco world around here is insane! They're absolutely everywhere and everywhere I go, I see them! I prefer to be different and they're aren't that many Rangers around town, at least compared to Tacoma's.
I thought about a newer Canyon, but only to drop an LS in it and have a modern day Syclone
