The question though is does it go back in the system... and if it does, is it hurting anything?

I have yet to read anything about folks have coking issues on a Ranger...... yet.
That seems to be the questions for the people who are cheaping out on a catch can, no offense.

how many people have to post these pictures of crap in the their catch can before everyone just says “damn.. maybe I don’t want that going back into my system”

Cheaping out? Ford added equipment on the Ranger 2.3 to handle this... yet folks keep adding untested unproven catch cans by companies that haven't spent the dollars to prove the technology.

Tailgate Dampers and Muffler Bearings...

Ford added equipment to deal with the gallon of gunk you’ll run through your system in a years time?

you can’t truly keep a straight face when saying catch cans haven’t been proven right?

Is this (mostly) a 2019 thing? Most postings on this site seem to be (mostly) 2019. Are there any changes made to newer engines (2020-21)

I agree. I had CC’s on my Focus ST and I don’t think they did much at all. I’m changing my oil at a regular basis and trusting the Ford Engineers and every other engineer that developed DI engines without a CC’s on them. I drive a truck not a Lamborghini.
Just my opinion.

On top of that U've seen them cause problems on other DI platforms.

Seems like snake oil to me.

If my valves coke up I can always walnut blast 'em.

Some of these are crazy full. What happens if you don’t empty in time and the can overfills?

Retired, work is a four letter word.
Not sure if I will install one or not, still doing research. But I did install a air nipple on the vacuum side where I can inject DI valve cleaner every other oil change. (I have a 'T' in the brake booster line for tow brakes, put another 'T' in this with a short nipple and cap to inject the cleaner)

It’s not all oil. It’s Oil, condensation and fuel. Some of y’all are stressing over this WAY too much. All combustion engines have some blow by. Forced induction emphasizes this.

Don't think that has ever happened and pray that it doesn't - it's only a matter of having sufficient mass to trigger a chain reaction and boom, kapow, holy gunk and spunk batman !

It must happen fairly often given how full some of these are.

I have to believe it has happened given how full some of these cans are in these photos. They look to be caught just in time so I would expect some people might be just a hit too late.
