rubber boots up or down on the rears? Does it matter?
It shouldn't matter, but the Bilstein website FAQ says the sticker should be right side up. So your mechanic did it right.

https://www.bilstein.com/us/en/faq/

"You always want to install our application specific B6 4600 and B8 5100 shocks so the Bilstein labeled on the shock body is reading in the correct orientation. If your shocks have been installed with the stickers on upside down then the shocks should be flipped the other way."

Well shoot. Looks like I’m going to end up ordering these. Damn all of you!
Ditto, been following this for a while. Now that the weather has finally warmed up, I ordered mine yesterday. We're planning an extended trip with our TT this spring and this should help make the trip more enjoyable.

I'd buy bilstein, if they offered external Reservoir. When I go over a uneven bump on my 2WD Ranger, the back "wiggles" :|

Then again, I'm running mostly stock Ranger, interested to see how the Electric F150 fares.

I decided I need to go ahead and replace the rear shocks on my truck, then three days later I get my bonus from work. IT'S A SIGN! I'm ordering them now.
Yup.

A $Dollar$ sign

Damn you people, starting reading this thread 4 days ago; Bilstein's just arrived at my door today :bandit:
Yup, same here. Mine showed up this afternoon. This forum keeps costing me more and more.

I should have made a royalty deal with Stage3.
You should've. I guess I'm part of the me too movement here. I got shocked at 9am.

Installing fronts on Monday...a buddy has a construction business with a full shop. Truck goes on lift at 11am, wheels and new tires to tire shop half a mile a way at noon. Front end swap from noon to 4 (if all goes well) pick up wheels with fresh tires and install. Alignment Tuesday morning...I'll keep you all posted.

Both have lifetime warranties, they are within $10 of each other in cost, so obviously the most important consideration is which one looks coolest.
I miss the old yellow color they used to be. Had these Bilstein's on my first ranger. Then you knew they were Bilsteins rather than just something shiny.
