Sounds like you got pretty far to give up now! Take some time to regroup and try again once your buddy is available.
Stupid question but I never removed struts before. Obviously you need to turn the strut body 30 degrees or so to line up the spacer studs to the control arm. None of the videos mention that, so does it turn fairly easily or how does that happen? Thanks in advance.

I've never done a spacer lift so I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I did have to use some leverage and rotate the shock in order to align the lower mounting holes with the LCA holes.

A shock absorber is just a piston-cylinder assembly, so the shock body and the piston can rotate independently on the same axis provided one or both ends are free. You don't necessarily want to do this repeatedly since this might have some impact on the piston seals, but you'll be fine doing the small rotation needed to line up mounting holes.

Disclaimer: I'm not a suspension expert, just a mechanical engineer with some knowledge. If you have more specific questions about your specific lift, I'd recommend calling the manufacturer.

Fine enough, that’s all I needed to know. Thanks.

With the aluminum knuckles, it should be a simple matter of loosening the nut and tap tap with a soft hammer or mallet. ? Cast iron knuckles, not so much.
I'm telling you man, I was absolutely wailing my aluminum knuckle and all it got me was a bit of tinnitus. Bought a pitman arm puller at AutoZone and it was out in seconds.

Odd - do you have a tailgate damper? ?

I'm going to make a second attempt to install mine this weekend.
Is it easily possible to turn the strut a little so the spacer lines up?
I didn't get quite that far last week as we couldn't get the tie rod end off. I bought a pickle fork today.
I was going to attempt it but opted to let the dealer tackle it. Getting too old for this. I purchased the lift from the dealer anyhow. Figured if they screw it up, it's on them.

2wd is the same setup plus you don't have to worry about accidentally pulling out the axle shaft.
I got mine from Truxxx. They have 1.5", 2.5", and 3.5". I used theirs on the Sport Trac I had before, it's a quality product.

I am going to be lifting just a bit with my 5100s and 1inch rear lift using aftermarket shackles
