Just scrap laying around , 1/2 or 3/4 pipe size ... hard rubber hose would work , piece of garden hose , anything to divert it away from that push rivet in the center...
But I need a piece in Velocity blue with the Ford logo.....
Just the color would add 5HP.

But the xtra weight would negate that 5 hp, so you'd break even...

So, it got me finally after 60k, last week I was pulling out of a restaurant and started to feel some hesitation, then a misfire, then the CEL and blinking CEL. Limped home and popped the hood, plug 1 was full of water...

I didn't even pull the others, I knew it was bad enough from this, and knew that TSB 21-2147 existed and despite being just over 60k, I have a top-tier ESP from Ford as well. Had it towed to the dealership on Thursday and he got back to me today, Ford won't cover it under factory warranty, ESP won't cover it, the TSB isn't active anymore - it's apparently been superseded by a new TSB with the exact same language in it.

Total damage?

He's willing to knock off the $205 in labor (which is 1 hour at this place, for the diag), but that still leaves ~$740 for the replacement work (including $250 for the cover itself....)

I'm not sure if furious is angry enough right now.

-------------------------------------------
EDIT 2023/10/06:
What a mess, I had to replace my head, #1 plug was seized, they started with a 10K quote. Also had a warranty issue even with the 84K 6 year extended, ended up costing me $1700 I just ran out of fight. Unfortunately I'm done with Ford after this mess, still dealing with hesitation etc. this vehicle is basically a piece of junk. The foam pipe insulation is not a bad idea, I used silicone and pressure sensitive tape. The water is coming in between the 2 piece cowling and parking head in downhill makes it worse, have a look after a good rain. Hopefully a class action starts soon, your not even supposed to look @ the plugs until 100K, there are going to be some surprised people when the plugs can't be removed. Also have a look @ TSB 23-2251 for the hesitation issues. I can't believe how Ford from the top down is handling these issues.

Were you guys using closed cell or open cell foam? I only found the closed cell with the adhesive and it was my preference unless any of you have reasoning otherwise.

6ft piece cost less than $8 at HD.

Hoping I got the underside to stick to the lower plastic piece well enough.

Just talked to the dealership, they have managed to figure out it is covered under warranty. I should have a $50 deductible, but it sounds like it might be waived? Either way, free or $50 is in line with what I was expecting. They're still waiting on the engine cover showing up which is still supposed to be here today.

What a debacle.
This exact issue happened to me, as well. The people on this forum went medieval on the dealership and Ford, themselves. Ford will play hardball trying not to up hold their end of the bargain, but if you stay firm, they will break!

I finally got mine back on Saturday after 2 weeks of dealing with this.

They covered it, but I still don't have final paperwork from the dealership, the advisor was done fighting with everyone and it was just a wait on parts..I suspect it'll cost me my $50 deductible for my ESP. But it's fixed and covered and that's what matters.

Good question. I am planning to add some foam insulation in addition to the engine cover on mine and it would make sense that it should be waterproof to prevent any moisture from seeping through.

Yes I have, no it wasn't.
Service Mgr. told me there is a TSB out, but if not experience any symptoms no action would be taken.
They will not "automatically" install one.
I've never had a problem, but then I have a cover and have a piece of split insulation as been discussed.

What size is that? I see HD has it for 1/2", 3/4" and 1" pipe. Thanks

Some used 1/2 inch I think, but most used 3/4 inch.....one inch is too big a gap. 3/4 inch like mine in my post goes around the bottom of the plastic rivets and holds. Mine on a few months now with no problem.

Your still styling around in that SuperCab i see , better hold on to it , they may be extinct soon...sadly...
I am very glad I went with the SuperCab. 90% of the time it is just me or one of the kids. A little more bed length is nice:)
