The engine cover is not needed to keep the water out , a piece of foam pipe insulation does a much better job ...

Thanks for posting this, I went on an 80-mile round trip in the rain today, and when I got home checked the ends of the tube and had moisture on one end. I used 1/2 inch pipe insulation I found at Walmart.

Just talked to the dealership, they have managed to figure out it is covered under warranty. I should have a $50 deductible, but it sounds like it might be waived? Either way, free or $50 is in line with what I was expecting. They're still waiting on the engine cover showing up which is still supposed to be here today.

What a debacle.

Yeah, I'm less concerned with the engine cover, more with the fact they're basically telling me to get bent.
That is sad. One reason I don't understand giving ford more money for an ESP when they don't honor it.

They probably got wind of the forum here and knew they were overmatched , see if you can get them to wash it ...
I know that corporate also sent them a bit of nasty-grams about this having supposed to be covered under warranty, so I think that helped.

I was At ACE Hardware today, and bought a piece of 1/2 insulation to put in there.

Good idea! I have an Engine Cover but will add this in addition. Is that insulation 1/2 inch ID or OD? Thanks.

On mine, I used 3/4 inch inside diam. split pipe insulation. Just cut the length to what you want...I cut mine to fill the straight area between the "humps" that protrude.
The split stuff comes with a "sticky" adhesive on the edge s of the cut...peel the protective film off and it will stick, especially on the top....make sure you clean the plastic cowl real good with a cleaner and wipe it down with some isopral alcohol so the sticky will stick.

Inside diameter, there is also tape you can use if you peel the plastic layer over the tape away, it's not a necessity to use the tape because the bottom side of the foam will kind of latch-up behind the rivets and hold itself in place. For length I went from about the middle of the two bump-outs on the seam (27 inches) so it wouldn't drip on anything electrical. I also plan on adding the engine cover.

Anyone know whether the standard cover installed will clear my catch-can?

Assuming that the sticky adhesive is on the ID to hold it onto the plastic seam in the truck? Where did you buy the foam?

Does the tape come on the insulation itself or does it need to purchased separately?

Sticky is on the edge of both horizontal cut edges so it will stick to itself when wrapped around a pipe. The adhesive isn't real "sticky"...kind of like the stuff on a band aid.... just made to stick to itself, but it works well. Been on mine for several months. Cheap enough to replace often if needed.
Lowes/Home Depot carries it in the plumbing section....just a few bucks for a 6 foot length.
