That's just about big enough for 2 six packs and a family size bag of chips...Found a decent deal on a 4x6 box trailer. Couldn't really feel I was pulling it.
Agree with you on the fuel tank, but weight is not the killer on mileage. It is the frontal area and overall size of the trailer that gets you. Speed is another factor that plays into the mileage numbers. Over 60 mph your mileage starts to drop drastically the faster you go. All about pulling that big box through the air.Just returned from a 6000 km (3750 Mi) trip to Nova Scotia pulling a 21 ft travel trailer. Have tow package, Husky WDH and friction sway bar. Weight fully loaded is 6000 lbs. Power in the hills is great but man that small fuel tank is a pain in the ass. Ford needs to offer a larger tank for those of us who pull heavier trailers. Also, OEM tires suck. When these are worn out I'm going to 10 ply tires.
And tire pressure - I am towing ~5500 lbs with WDH and have found going from 38 psi to 45 psi takes me from 10 mpg to over 11 mpg at 60 mph ithout overly affecting the ride quality. Trailer is a Black Series HQ15 running 265/75R16 tires at 80psi. Upping the speed to 70 mph drops mpg to under 10 mpg, so 60-ish seems to be the sweet spot.Agree with you on the fuel tank, but weight is not the killer on mileage. Edit: Nice looking rig by the way.

I have a 21 foot Rockwood that's 5400# loaded; My tip on tow driving is max 60 mph in perfect conditions. I've been towing it 1-2 weekends a month - much of that into hill country - for nearly two years now and never had a problem with my '19 XLT.2021 Ranger Lariat with Tow Package towing a Cruiser MPG 2100 RB. It’s 5400# dry. Have Blue Ox equalizer with sway bars. Pulled great although I just got the trailer and haven’t pulled it far yet. I drive slow and never pull with water in tanks.

Drove back from Sanford, Fl. to Gilbert, Az. No issues except when a storm with high cross winds started. Very pleased.
70 mph in tow mode only when pulling. No gear lockouts cause it has to shift to stay in the powerbandDid you use S mode or simply tow mode? Did you lock any gears? Travel about 55 mph?
Wow. That’s awesome. Glad you didn’t have any issues. I’m very similar but haven’t pulled mine far yet. Hearing horror stories about being passed by big figs on freeway. I’m not all that nervous about it but nice to see your successful with it. I’m about 11,000 fully loaded truck and trailer.70 mph in tow mode only when pulling.
