When I went to start my truck today there was a quick notice that my system had been updated. Took a look at the "about sync" ...must have updated on its own over the air, wifi, or voodoo, magic or by the UFO that landed in my backyard.
Currently: (I updated to 21020 v3.4 via USB some time ago) while Sync says I'm up to date... but this is better than what I experienced over WiFi previously - like 'computer gives blank look' response ?

The lack of speed on that progress bar...?

Home stretch

And finally.

Been at this for a good while, but then... we start with another of the same one? ?

Well I was able to get this update downloaded in my garage over Wifi. Seems to went well other than now my drivers window doesn't auto roll down (still moves, just the auto part of it doesn't function anymore). Probably unrelated, but just happened at the same time

Side note, I did also just install my brake controller, but the only wiring I worked with was the Yellow and Blue pre-wire under the dash.

I had a similar issue in another vehicle after installing a remote starter in the same area as the brake controller wires are in the Ranger. Turned out that I had loosened a connector with about 50 wires on it. My window controls sometimes stopped working entirely, which was embarrassing at the drive-thru!

If you ever disconnected the battery, you need to re-learn the auto window function. It's in your manual.

Thank you @Gizmokid2005 I did disconnect the battery when I hooked up the controller. Didn't think it was feature in the manual. I'll give it a try!

flash drive is 32gb or smaller? have you attempted to simply format as fat32?
I have tried a USB 2.0 & 3.0 drive, smaller and larger than 32gb, exfat (as per Ford's instructions) and Fat32. Every drive I insert into the USB port immediately tells me the drive is not supported.
For reference: https://help.ford.com/update-sync/usb/
Thanks!

Yup! I ran into that after I installed my ditch pods originally, I was like, wtf? Turns out our trucks need a relearn procedure for some asinine reason.

It's the anti-pinch functionality that causes this and is all but standard on any vehicle with one touch power windows. The pressure/voltage sensor in the window motor regulator uses volatile memory so each time it loses power it clears out the stored readings and you have to complete a full open/close cycle so it will re-learn. Only having to do one window is wonderful compared to both VW's I use to own. They had one-touch open close on all windows and to reset it the system was set so you could cycle one window at a time and it took 2-3 complete open/close cycles on each window before the one-touch would work again on any window.

Yes. I have not gotten a USB drive to be recognized by the head unit.
@AllOfTheData
Are you using Windows or Mac? If Mac, do you have a Windows machine to try? Some Mac users have had issues while others have had none.

are you extracting the content of the .zip file to the flash drive that was formatted to exFAT, or are you saving the .zip file directly to flash drive?

the .zip file should not be contained within flash drive; i.e., there shouldn't be any file contained within flash drive with a .zip extension.

OK, I tried using the automatic update and it downloaded : 4U5T-14G423_CC

Now it says my system is at 3.4.2120 but I'm skeptical.....here is my IVSU screenshot - for those who've sucessfully updated what does your IVSU screen show?
