I've tried it quite a number of times over 3 different update cycles - none of them have worked... There is nothing wrong with the XML file.

If you need to process the XML files in the order you did the updates then they have a serious problem with the design of the whole thing. They should only be concerned about updating the CURRENT status of what version you are on.

At this point I've given up - it really doesn't matter honestly. I find out about updates here before I hear about them from Ford.

As others have said repeatedly, it really shouldn't be this hard. It isn't rocket science to do this well at this point. Hopefully Ford improves how they do things. I think their partnership with Google will improve updates greatly. I'm interested to see how that plays out. (and when)
Don't hold your breath...

Everything follows a logical order...updates being the same.

If the software is loss...it won't proceed.

If it's missing a read point...it won't install.

Check which version your Ranger is on...update that to the next version...proceed through the process.

Then you can eventually end up where we are are...trying to download to stay current,,,

Good luck with that...

You should care.

It may be by size.
But the more concern will be a better response from Ford,

They want to be in business.
I'm sorry I have no idea what you mean

I've been in IT for over 30 years, I understand how updates work. That isn't the problem.

I'm fully up to date (3.4.21020) - it's just that the Ford servers can't/won't acknowledge that I'm up to date.

I forgot to upload the XML after doing the last 2 updates via USB. It must automatically upload it over WiFi eventually as the site later showed that I was on the proper version despite forgetting to upload the XML file.

I guess I'm all updated. I just refreshed the update screen and nothing else wants to download. It wasn't the smoothest journey but it's seems to be complete.

I would suggest you check the IVSU files

Ya, that's what I was talking about several posts ago.
I can only see a few of them.
And, evidently, you can't 'scroll down' to see any more of them.
So, exactly what is it that you suggest to check?
A few specific files, or what?
Thank you for any help to let us uninformed to know all is well.
Thanks.

Everybody has been in IT for 30 years.
You need an answer...otherwise you wouldn't be here.
Sometimes the solution is in a second set of eyes, or in your case, another IT expert.

Ha! Also in IT, and I am constantly amazed by 'users'. I mean, we've all been using computers for 25+ years (me = 40 years). In this day and age I am amazed at how, well, stupid many people are about tech. I just sometimes wonder about how anyone younger than 60 hasn't been eaten by a dinosaur for how dense they are about tech.

With that said, I sometimes have to look over my shoulder for the dino about to eat me when I try to update sync3.

I need no answers, as I stated previously, my system is up to date.

I'm just sharing my experience. That is all.

When I went to start my truck today there was a quick notice that my system had been updated. Took a look at the "about sync" screen and found that I was on sync ver 3.4 build 21020. Didn't use the USB...must have updated on its own over the air, wifi, or voodoo, magic or by the UFO that landed in my backyard.

It's been broken for quite a while then. I remember having trouble uploading it when I had a 18 F150. Excuses Excuses.

Use WIFI and it works.

I had a chat session with Ford the other day about the inability to report a successful upgrade on the web site. Their answer was that it is broken and they estimated about a month before it would be fixed. Subsequently, I was able to update my maps via wifi and during that process the ford servers were updated with the new version info.

The USB drive I'm using is formatted as exFAT and has the correct files but the head unit tells me "this usb device is not supported. Please remove"
Any ideas on what's going on?
