My truck looks like it recently did an update. SYNC 3, Version 3.4. Build 22251.

Noticed a few things.

1) When I switch from the radio to XM Satellite, rather than, going to a channel, it displays the SIM number. Then need to select a channel. I know not a huge issue, but a difference.

2) This one is the on that has me most upset. I have a USB drive that I have a lot of songs on. Prior to this update, I could use the voice control to select a song. Now it just talks back to me saying that it is updating commands.

Anyone have some insight on this? I have tried disconnecting the battery to "reset" it, but to no avail.

sooner or later, yes. but it resumes the next time you park. and the next time. it's ridiculously slow, and in my experience will never ever finish if you're just sitting there staring at it because it takes too long--but it will eventually get there, little by little. I have no idea why it's so slow--crappy wifi hardware? crappy network stack? who knows. But if you calibrate your expectations it'll get done with no need to stress over it.
I downloaded and installed the update in less than 30 minutes. I just let the truck run and it updated over my home Wi-Fi connection. As the Brits say, "easy-peasy." :like:

but...why idle the truck for that long when it'll happen anyway without idling the truck? ?‍♂

For some things if I remember correctly it needs to do some processing. Instead of batter resets and such, just leave it alone and try it again in a couple of days.

To get it over with. It's not a big deal to me to let it run. No muss; no fuss. UNDER 30 minutes.
I guess I could "piss and moan" about the process like some people do.

A hard reset found in the menu may help. After one of my nav updates, the voice commands didn't work right. After going into the menu and doing a hardware reset, they worked again.

I thought you guys were really on to something, I removed my VT's on my 22251 and it looks like it uploads (page refreshes with no errors) but no joy.

Thanks for the info!

LB
But, you actually got an XML file when you updated to 22251? I did not, so I tried uploading the XML file from my 22000 update. It went through, but didn't "stick". I thought it was because it was from a previous update.

My last and current update - did not upload the file as requested by Ford- although the update did not show needed by the truck - had to do it via USB - once USB plugged in - takes about 15 minutes or so - with truck idling - note it gives you update complete then cycle ignition switch and then finishes update - this is where the XML file is created I think - but again it won’t upload to Ford - states file not found - or something similar to that statement

Yeah I had xml files on both upgrades, even tried uploading both after removing the VT. Everything works just fine, just the update to Ford issue.

still pissin and moaning :)

So strange that some get the XML file and others don't. I'm pissin and moaning right along with you!

New Sync 3 version available (3.4.22251) for download from Ford today. No clue what is in it.

Who wants to go first?
Just got an email from the Ford IVT Escalation team concerning this version. " According to the engineers, the 22251 update was pulled from the Ford.com website and the cloud due to recent reports that users were experiencing bugs within the software. There hasn’t been an ETA on when it’ll be released yet as they correct the bugs." So if you haven't downloaded it yet, you may not want to....

FWIW, I had been on 3.4.22251 for months and never had an issue until I got a new phone then started having occasional issue with Sync not communicating with the phone for phone calls (texting was fine). I updated to 3.4.23088 and haven't had an issue for over a month.

When did 3.4.23088 come out?

Apparently that build is not public and the core is the same as 3.4.22251.

Seems to be mostly map updates.

https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/new-sync-3-version-3-4-23088-still-3-4-22251-actually/8954
FWIW, Cyanlabs pulled down 3.4.23088 when the initial release turned out to be bit for bit identical to 3.4.22251. A month or so later the actual 3.4.23088 became available and was reposted on Cyanlabs. Some folks have actually had 3.4.23088 become available to them on the Ford Sync site.

Whether 3.4.23088 has bug fixes for what folks are complaining about here or not it certainly fixed the communication issue with my new phone.
