You're going to have to call customer service to get a special file they'll send you that'll uninstall all the map chunks, then you re-run the new map installer.

Yeah, that was changed on SYNC 4. There they have it set to where you can access the Ford VR regardless of CarPlay being active or not. SYNC 3 it's only Siri with CarPlay active. Common complaint, hence the change in SYNC 4.

Before you install it make sure it’s looking for the license file it actually gave you. The 424. You can check the file name in the installer. Last two year that got screwed up when the maps went live for downloads.

If the activity light is flashing it must be pulling down the files. The map update can take a long time. Seems dependent on the drive. I’ve heard of under an hour to two and a half hours. When it’s finally done you’ll get the message ok screen that stays. The others it’ll auto restart itself...

And you're using the same map update drive? You don't get the pop-up to acknowledge the map update will begin? Worst case you can tweak the autoinstall.lst script to install the missing voice packages.

That’s the voice package. Looks like it’s pulling 21194 based on that.

If that doesn't fix it, also check to make sure you have the latest voice pack installed. I've run into items before where someone updated from v3.3 to v3.4, but only did the apps package. That'll break USB play commands for sure given several changes made along the way.

It's not going to do a thing different from 21194 besides a little placebo effect unless you have a specific screen, which isn't in Ranger. There's an updated voice pack for Europe only that works with 21194 and 21265 that's going out OTA. That one won't do anything for you in Europe unless...

Have you forced a re-index? I know there was an issue when going from 3.3 -> 3.4 with the USB media databases. Re-indexing addressed it.

Stay with 21194. There's nothing in the new drop for a Ranger, besides a new voice package for Europe. That should be getting pushed OTA by itself anyway.

Voice commands aren’t supported for Bluetooth as next to no phones support indexing. It should index it when it’s connected via USB and then would be available while CarPlay is not active. Another solution is dump the media on a thumb drive.
