10r80 dead. 110k miles. Ford sucks

If you get a used truck with the Ford Gold certified pre owned warranty, its 7 years/100K miles on the powertrain. This is what is keeping me from doing a transmission pan/tune... If/when the 10R80 takes a dump, I want no question as to warranty coverage.

Yeah. My 2020 supercab was cpo gold and I have been looking into the tune. I assume if you buy the Ford tune and diy they can possibly not honor the 7/100 transmission warranty? I did read you can easily revert the truck back to stock with the tuner. So I guess if you start having issues you can just go back to stock before you send it in.

They will know by the key counts that it was just flashed. If not willing to take the risk, then don't. But you won't get away with cheating.

Ford can tell if the ECM has been flashed, how many times and how many drive cycles since it was flashed. Probably even when. So no fooling them if they want to check.

there are piggy back tuners that don't leave a footprint (to my understanding). They connect between the manifold pressure sensor an the ecm (I think) an just trick the computer by telling it it's getting a pound or two less (or what ever they set them for) so it adds more boost. there are stages for these so I assume they add more depending on the fuel you're using. You can remove it in a few minutes for a trip to the dealer service dept.

Couple of caveats here.

Yes, I know Gale is talking about Diesels, but in-line gas tuners do work similarly. (As you said, modifying sensor inputs).

I'm not saying all the in-lines are bad, but for me, I wouldn't use one.

I do wish Banks would do one of their tuners for our gassers.

Long story short
Valves sticking, "skipping" on clutch. Local dealer recommended new trans.
$10880

No rebuild quote. Asked for one. Waiting on that call now.

Took truck in for trans slipping, bucking, faling out of gear behavior I didnt know was an issue until after I left. Told them I needed fluid and filter and probably some diagnostics. 3.5hrs later as I'm paying for the fluid change, tech mentions that I "should bring it back in for diagnostics. Nothing changed."
I got pissed and passive aggressive and left a Google review. Was given a free loaner while they had the truck for diagnostics ans told that Ford and the dealer would work with me on a solution.

Got the call today with info at the beginning of the post, was told that Ford coverage ends at 100k. I'm livid.

I can't afford 11k for a new trans. Shit, I can't afford half that. That's why I have a ranger not a 150...
What are my options? Help?

Keep in mind.... Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) requires a car manufacturer to prove that an aftermarket part (or tune)caused damage before denying warranty coverage. I think a few Google searches will show that there have been issue with the transmission tuned or stock. My 2 cents.

This is a double edged sword. Yes, they are required to prove it but they also have a legal team on staff who will make your life unbearable. They won't roll over because you said so. They will fight the legal battle and deny it until you give up. What are you more likely to do? Spend $8,000 on a transmission or $50,000 on a lawsuit.

Depends on the original purchase date and the time of the failure/repair.

Finally got a real number from local dealer.
5800 for rebuild out the door.

It's not horrible. Local shop was just a couple hundred under that and I'd rather have the work documented by the dealer so when it dies again they already have the history... lol

Ill be swapping the pan for one with a drain at the next fluid change. Then I'll personally keep on top of the fluid changes.
