Thanks! It's a 2021 Flagstaff Mac 176LTD. I flipped the axle and did a few other mods to help it handle the trails better. Here it is all setup.

Thanks, when my boys get a little older I would like something like that so we can wander into BLM land for the weekend.

I like you are a cyclist and have a free roaming mutt. Not sure if you are boon-docking but we do that as well. (camp off-grid)

Man, I wish my dog could be off leash at campgrounds but he is too territorial. He does great off leash when we are in the middle of nowhere though. He explores but come sunset, never leaves my side.

The term for that is "unsocialized".

Additional to my last post, I'm still towing with now over 20,000 kms pulling this trailer. My two issues were the spring bars (400-600 lb) were under rated for the the tongue weight and it was causing the back end of the truck to bounce a bit over bumps. Other issue was due to the lighter bars, I was not getting the weight transfer up to the front. I have since corrected this with new spring bars (800-1200 lb) and can now get the weight spread over the whole truck. I just pulled it from Ontario to South Carolina and back and what a difference. Almost not sway at all when a truck passes and great steering in corners at Hwy speed. That said I am a hard max 65 mph driver as we all know the cute little purse they call a gas tank will empty out pretty quick if you drive any faster. Average fuel mileage pulling this unit with a head wind coming home is 10 mpg (22 ltr/100 kms) or just under 200 miles per tank. If it had a larger tank it would get 5 stars for towing. Make sure your WDH is set up correctly as with a bad setting the trailer will push you around quite a bit. Have fun! Trailer is 25 ft total length and loaded weight is 6000 lbs, tongue weight is 650 lbs.

Doing a tow test today before our move from South Carolina to California! Bronco is around 4200. Trailer is 2210. 6,410lbs behind the ranger. She’s sitting pretty leveled!

What y’all think on a 2,000 mile road trip with this setup??
You will do just fine. I had my cargo just about maxed on my truck, i did use chains to secure the car, used the frame to try and prevent the car from bouncing too much on its suspension. And this is my trucks weight as i drive it every day. I like the 4x2, it allows for more cargo weight.
My steering was just fine, so was the tow, i just did 68. 8 hour drive.
I did wish i put my tires at at least 45 psi when driving. I know my rears gained an extra 3 psi while towing. Meaning they got some heat in them. Those uhaul trailers tend to be tongue heavy too. Not to good for balancing the weight.
But your good, nice seeing the ranger at work.

Looking at the owners manual to see what gas was required when towing.

Found this!

Interesting......

Like andres f150 hybrid towing in the mountains, from tfl truck. Apparently his max tow has an * by it. As does ours..........

I forgot to mention, this is with four batteries in the back of the truck. Not much if any sag.

What model is that? How does it do? Guessing that is in the ~24ft range? My wife eventually wants a BH about that size but wish I could "test tow" something like that before purchasing. I suppose I can rent one.

I’m still playing with the set up, but it tows wonderful. I used to tow with a Lariat F-150 3.5 EB. The payload is about 100lbs less in the Ranger. It feels similar in terms of stability, the 3.5 had more get up and go, but the Ranger crushed a huge hill with about 1500’ of elevation gain at around 6000’ MSL. It didn’t drop below 8th gear and feels like plenty of power is always available.

I have a tailgate dampener. I think it’s the dampener that makes all the difference.

The spring pack is pretty legit. I don’t porpoise over bumps that my F-150 did with the same camper which really surprised me.

FYI, I traded a 19 Tacoma TRD in after the first time towing this camper. Scariest day of my life. That’s a whole other story.

Apex Nano 208BH
Camper Dry: 3998
Hitch Dry: 517
Loaded: 5000/600-640 (depends)
RedArc Brake Controller
WDH w/ Anti-Sway
I tow about 65MPH max.
I live in the Rockies does great on climbs and descents.
Mileage is around 11-12 MPG.
