I guess I'm glad I don't have NAV. I use AA and Maps for navigation. My XLT just updated SYNC all by itself over WIFI. Went out this morning to check after seeing this thread and it was half downloaded. Turned Truck off and came back later and it was installing. Checked again and it was done. No muss, no fuss, no messing with ACC.

Well, people just like to whine, including me. I like sync and nav, but I feel it's not quite baked yet. That's OK, I can deal with it.

Got in the truck today and the screens were white, checked and realized this smart little truck had updated itself to 21020 while parked close to the house and on wifi I guess. Selected Sirius as I drove, Sirius updated itself then started to play. Plugged in the iPhone and CarPlay came up. All seems fine. Still not clear what new functionality I’ve got other than a different layout and the white colour scheme.

My system has taken a few days to update. I think it's done as of today as it hasn't updated yet again. (Nav system)

I used Wi-Fi. I didn't keep the truck running. I checked status occasionally & found it doing its thing.

But, still don't have Waze or Google maps back. System definitely has some lag.

I do find my phone now connects wirelessly to play Spotify. (It may have before, but I always connected it to use WAZE.

My Android Auto is still not working!! ????
Remove the connection in Sync and your phone and reconnect. That's usually the fix. I had to do that with the last update. If that doesn't work, do a master reset.

The map chunks are usually are around 1 GB, then it'll need the NAV VOICE pack which is another 1 and some GBs. So, could take a bit depending on your speeds and such.

That's just another piece of the map update. The NAV VOICE pack.

Is there any benefit if I use Android auto rather than the standard Ford nav? I like that Waze shows where the police are :)

Same here, auto update. Not sure how, ? but it did. Regarding new functionality?? Not sure either, but I like the new interface.

These things should not be that hard. The Ranger may be a great truck, but only as good as the maintenance. This is a disappointment. How hard can it be to allow for WiFi upgrades. These are the things that I look for when I rebuy.
It works fine but on its own schedule, downloading the update in bits and pieces until it has everything ready to actually install. It takes time to gather it. If you didn't know about the update, then it would just work and you'd be happy, but since you already know about it, you're probably trying to expedite it, which makes it seem like it doesn't work.

You may also need to tell your phone to forget the bluetooth connection and in the Android Auto settings on your phone tell it to forget previously connected vehicles.

So at CyanLabs, I see two ways to update.

https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/syn3-updater-for-my20-my21/3052

and

https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/no...nstallation-stand-alone-without-reformat/2965

Which one? Do I select "Release" or "Ci"?

I have already upgraded Sync to 21020 by USB thru Ford's website. Just need to update maps.

A little help for this old confused guy.
I used option 2 for install without reformat. In settings use install mode autoinstall, and branch = release.

Well now. WAZE & Google maps is back. I deleted the connection between Android Auto & my Ranger. I also shut off Bluetooth on the phone.

I got in the Ranger, pressed the start button & connected the phone via USB. I then started Android Auto. Accepted the necessary permissions and WAZE was on the screen along with Spotify. In the background were all the apps that were there prior to the update.

A big shout out to Technically Real for that insight. ?

So now we can go somewhere, anywhere --- BUT --- now there is no gas to do such!!!! ?

I think my truck has 'finally' download & updated everything it wanted to.
It tells me I'm up to date.

I've tried to check, for my satisfaction, and evidently don't know how to 'scroll' when looking at the files via the diag screens.

I see a couple of files that I know were downloaded, but can't get beyond them to see other files that I know were downloaded and installed.

Does anyone know how to 'scroll' to see more files in the diags?

You can't just look at the current versions to check? Sorry, can't answer about the diag screen.

Ya, the version is ok ...... it's been ok for a lot of downloads ago.
I'm just curious what's finally on the truck, not that it really matters.
To do diags (to see what's in the computer), I've been told to:
Turn on the radio
Press and hold down the seek fwd buttons on the steering wheel and the panel for 10 seconds.
END speaker test.
Select APIM, upper left
then Select IVSU, lower right
(You may need to 'scroll down' to see most items)
So, I'm asking, "How do you 'scroll down'?
