Posted in a different thread already,
Driving 65-70 MPH on Saturday and I experienced a hard transmission jerk out of nowhere. Wrench light and others came on and my speed reduced drastically. Within 1/2 mile I pulled off highway toward local ford dealer. My speed reduced to less than 10 MPH and when I pulled into Ford my 2019 Ranger would not move in reverse. Have 89,000 miles with a 100,000 mile extended warranty. Initial diagnosis is wire harness went into engine fan causing all the issues. I did have an occasional hard shift around 30 MPH but nothing serious. Thoughts on pushing the dealer to do a deeper dive on transmission?

Good thing you have ESP because you're about 90% to total failure...if the dealer is unresponsive...just go and beat it to death and then have them replace it...it's not going to get better...

Thank you. I will go to multiple dealers if it continues to have issues checked. Deductible is not that bad.

Its possible you have 2 unrelated issues. The wiring harness getting caught in the fan is one thats been reported rarely on here. Some people had issues with the idler pulley braking off and the belt wraps everything into it.

Interesting, what happens when the idler pulley backs off? How does the truck react?

FYI.... YT video popped up in my feed regarding the 10L80 (GM) and the 10R80 (Ford) trans... Odd but they do share some common parts which are interchangeable... (Does Eaton or someone else make these trans for Ford & GM from a basic design and adjust to Ford and & GM's specs??)

It appears that there are more than a few common failure points in these things, besides the CCR (think that the right abbrev)

The video is targeted at transmission shop techs, so is quite detailed but informative.

I was under the assumption ford and gm worked together on creating the 8 and 10 speeds

I don’t want to make a whole new thread but I took mine in for harsh shifts when transmission is cold. They performed a some test and tried a few things. Transmission needs rebuilt. It’s been 14 days, they have the transmission torn down and are waiting for parts to arrive. I will update with the work order when I get it back.

At 21 days in the shop…. I stopped in on Wednesday and they claimed to be tearing down the transmission.

coincidental side story. My mom’s year old Silverado with the 10L80 is in the shop. Won’t go into reverse and it’s stuck in limp mode. Tech said it’s the valve body. The 10X80 family must be nothing but junk. I’m seriously considering a trade in
