Never heard of a core charge for a new transmission. Usually they are for rebuilt. You sure it's new and not a re manufactured tranny.

Yup. Most major OEM’s charge core charges on new major components now. To build their core bank for reman and to keep cores out of competitors hands. Reman is a different part# also and includes a core charge too.

Those have always been a much higher price. Probably because of volume??
Maybe. Historically most of the difference has been an output adapter, but knowing Ford, it is probably something stupid and bespoke between the two of them.

Absolutely my first thought was I should get one to keep on deckšŸ˜…
This is pandemic toilet paper mentality. It just drives up the price and reduces availability for those that actually need them.

There’s truth to that.šŸ˜…
Hey I would send my core of the sploded one when I would install the new one though..
Anyhow it was just an impulse thought and like it was said ā€œresist the prepper instinct.ā€
But what’ll I’ll truly end up doing is just setting aside enough to purchase one.. even though it’s has possibilities of price fluctuation… hey if I’m lucky it could be even cheaper when mine finally tanks.

They were a little bit more( $3300 ) than this last year then jumped to $5900. It’s like the wheel of misfortune.

Hmm if more trannies fail owing to not following the prevailing maintenance recommendations on here - that could raise the number of units available for rebuild and then ye old supply/demand principle applies and bring even more price reductions. Decisions, decisions......, meanwhile my tranny seems to be in good working order - the keyword being seems.
