I’m on the Damper Fence

Okay, I promised myself that I would never tell this story, but sometimes I disappoint myself. My county in SE Minnesota has a recycling center which I frequently utilize. A couple of years ago I went to the hazardous materials lane to drop off some old paint and florescent light tubes.

Being that it was at the height of covid the sign said to stay in your vehicle which I did. The guy opened my tailgate to get the tubes and let my tailgate drop. Bang! Then he slammed it shut and asked if I had anything else. I pointed out he missed the paint cans and he dropped the tailgate again. Bang!

Of course our illustrious moderator (@AzScorpion) immediately came to mind and all I could do was laugh! Don't worry, Duke (@DukeCanBuildit) , I'm still not getting one of those silly things!

Dave, you gotta remember you can always put more clothes on, but there are only so many clothes you can take off! I don’t know how I would survive down there in AZ. I think the first day it got above 90 I’d just melt down into a little puddle of Alaskan and seep down into the sand

Ive tried that (putting on more cloths) but then you're all bundled up and uncomfortable. I love being able to wear shorts 365/days and the worst of the heat is really from June-August. But you have to remember, it's a dry heat! ?

Checkout Spearfish, SD. Beautiful area and nice little town. I could see me and my other half locating there in the future.

We went through there last June on our way back from Deadwood. It's a really nice area but still way to cold for most of the year. I've seen the pictures that @NeilP has posted with all that snow and sub zero temps and no way I could go back to that now. I'd rather stay here and once Annie retires we can "Sunbird" (Opposite of snowbird ) for the summer months. lol

Been there done that back east. That's why we're having such a hard time chasing another place to move too now. As much as I'm sick of the heat (mostly by August) it's really much easier to deal with then being bundled up freezing. Otherwise we'd already be in South Dakota as we really loved it there and are going back again in June.

Come on out to Tennessee ?. The weather is pretty moderate here. Plus you can’t beat the Smoky Mountains. Think I told you early but we also looked at Arkansas before we moved and ultimately settled here. If you hate the cold, that rules out a number of places.

Come on out to Tennessee ?. The weather is pretty moderate here. Plus you can’t beat the Smoky Mountains. Think I told you early but we also looked at Arkansas before we moved and ultimately settled here. If you hate the cold, that rules out a number of places.

We did discuss it and TN is still on our list to visit. We have to much going on this spring and then we're leaving again for the month of June so hopefully in the fall we'll get out there. We don't mind some cold but just nothing sub zero like it get often in SD.

Exactly! I never had one before I owned my Tacoma. Then I got so use to having one it's now a must have. ? Come to think of it, that was the only good thing about the Tacoma!?

Surprised you did that with a Taco. Every ounce counts in Taco world. With that cargo capacity you can't even have seconds at dinner if you plan on driving anywhere afterwards.

Dude what kind of a marketing person are you to not see an opportunity to sell a warm weather and a cold weather damper, not everyone lives in AZ. Just like some people have snow tires for the winter or yrs back even used to have a summer and winter thermostat, there is a market opportunity to sell a damper set, think increasing your sales - but for me I'm still damper resistant.

No you need an adjustable damper where you can adjust the damping force by turning a screw on the end.
It could even have calibration marks from pink (girly man) - maximum assistance, to green (average man) to red - virtually no assistance at all (Schwarzenegger or cold weather setting).
