The dealer covered the entire job, including the warranty deductible, washed my truck, and dropped it off in my driveway. NO CHARGE AT ALL! Unless you enjoy getting shafted, I would give me that number so I can finally pay you guys back:)

It's raining today, after I drove the truck to take my kids to school I popped the hood and it was 100% dry, nothing in the cracked dash area, nothing on the engine except dust.

Not an issues while driving , parked downhill in a rainstorm is when it starts pouring in on the engine , if you never park outside facing downhill you're good....

So my question is what should I do next? Has anyone had any experience in succeeding in getting this covered under the original 60k warranty?
After Ford was unwilling to cover it or do anything to prevent it from happening again, I went down the street and found out that Toyota had a solution. Dumped that truck on their used car lot and said Adios Muther Effers to Fords ridiculous service. Now my truck doesn't have this issue any more - because it's a Tacoma.

Hi all, I fixed the issue with the addition of two new boots from Napa. Cost 122$ with the holiday discount. Waiting for the check engine to clear, then my final move is probably GTGallup's and that is trade it in.

I really love my Ranger, but I was very tempted to ditch it because of the truly insane customer service!

Hi All, First post here. I took my 2019 Ranger in to the dealer today because of misfires on 1 and 4. I changed the spark plugs already and it was ok for a while but when I got up past 60 and tried to punch it, it kicked back. So I decided to take it in. Turns out it is the water issue and I need to have the boots in one and four replaced too. This is something I can do myself instead of spending the 900 the dealer wants to charge me, which includes the engine cover.

So I called Ford and they gave me the run around that it is up to the dealer or not to cover under warranty, while the dealer said it is not covered under the original Power Train warranty, I am still under. I did see the memo Ford sent out here about the water issue and I sent that to the dealer, but the dealer says it isn't covered under power train.

So my question is what should I do next? Has anyone had any experience in succeeding in getting this covered under the original 60k warranty? If so, how long did it take to break the impasse? I cannot be without my truck for long and I am wondering if I am better off just fixing it myself. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Call ford. The engine is misfiring therefore no longer emissions compliant. That’s a power train issue at the very least. You also have an 8/80 emissions warranty. The dealers are not honoring warranty all over because the avg consumer doesn’t know their consumer rights.

same here. the like the truck a lot. if ford dealers would be decent to customers on warranty stuff and not give people run arounds the issues the trucks do have could be ironed out easily.

Yes - it should not be such a hassle and we as customers should not have to walk into any dealership with they are trying to screw me attitude and bringing up our defensive guards, yes normally Spark Plugs are not a warranty item BUT this is caused by failure of the design of the cowl , yes I can understand it being missed as a what if. But for this it should be 100% covered - Period

So I just looked at this on mine this weekend, driveway has a slope, so parked facing downhill.

Popped the hood, dumped a nalgene bottle of water on the windshield. I'll be damned if it didn't start dripping water right off the center onto the engine.

It's right where the two halves of the cowl meet in the middle. They should just make it a three piece, or change the two pieces so it's offset from the center of the engine and the problem would be fixed.

Fortunately we don't get a ton of rain here and me parking facing downhill IN the rain is even less frequent, but... I'll be adding something to divert water away from that spot and I'm definitely going to pull the plugs at around 20k and I'll probably just replace em (they're cheap) and anti seize the threads on the new ones

ETA - this is a '23 Tremor that has a (March) *correction it was May* build date if I remember correctly. So even as of 7 months ago they hadn't addressed this

That makes sense. I never park downhill. I’ll have to do the fix with a pool noodle just in case. Or maybe some silicone, idk.
