yeah I remember a friend came to me with a garage diagnosed head gasket issue on a rare and and fast 351 boss mustang, they wanted big bucks for the job so I said I do it for far less, did the job assuming it was a bad head gasket, I told him to take it easy for a few days, so we all went to our annual summer opening bar lakeside at Lake Erie, I'm driving home on the NY state thruway at 2:00 am when I see a car rapidly overtaking from the rear, it flies by me going at least 100 mph, 20 miles or so down the road I see a car pulled over on fire. It was the mustang and turns out it wasn't a head gasket at all but a leaking soft plug in the block. Sh*t happens.
This sounds similar to a story that Dad told me happened to him when I was a kid. Back in the middle to latter part of 80s after I was born. Dad worked as a mechanic at the Ford dealership in Bonham. It was in the same location where McCraw Oil headquarters is located on North Center street. A guy that Dad worked with had a second gen Camaro and on the way back to work from their lunch break, Dad heard the engine making a knocking sound. He asked the guy that he was riding with and who owned the car. What's that noise? Driver told him, I don't know, but we're about to find out. Floor shift automatic, driver pulls it in 1st gear, drops the hammer and immediately when he bumped it into 2nd gear rods shot out the side of the block. That car and driver got towed home behind Dads primer grey Ranchero. LMAO

I’ll be attempting retrieval tonight via shop vac. I’ll update if it works
Otherwise I’ll get the camera before absolutely have to rip everything off
Where are you located? I have a bore scope you can use if you’re near KW.

Also retrieval was a fail. I’m also not entirely sure if it went into the turbo or the intercooler. Either way I’m having it towed to a mechanic as I’ve not the time to take everything apart searching for davy jones lost screw.

Hopefully they find it - It sucks losing hardware.
Not down the tube of course but sometimes it helps to get one of the matching bolts or screws etc and actually drop and watch - normally it will drop in the same area (hidden location)
Just a mechanics (little trick) or use a blow gun that also helps when they want play hide n' seek

Update: Mechanics camerad and did their things and tricks and didn’t find it in the turbo and could not locate it in the intercooler where it must be. He said it’s ok to drive, I’m weary but I’m going to pick it up today and probably for peace of mind take the intercooler out myself and verify. Is there an easier way besides removing the grille and all that? My buddy was able to access his eco boost mustang intercooler just by removing a skid plate. Wondering since it’s the same engine maybe I’d be able to do the same. Anyone ever try?
