Howdy fellow Rangers,

How many use some sort of hail protection cover? I wanted some ideas. Im based in the midwest. Has been a crappy season so far, luckily nothing severe! ?

Knock Wood the Ranger and wife's Subi are garaged, and we don't get hail here very often.
I have read of the use of the thick "moving blankets" used as protection....their thick enough with padding that they might work out.
Google up "using moving blankets for vehicle hail protection" and many info sites will come up.

I'm here in the Loo also. And yes the weather's been crappy, but if you believe Channel 4, it's always going to be severe! We only had one hail event in my neighborhood and it was very minor. I guess you don't have a garage or carport available; fortunately I do so can't help you with any hail covers. A Google search shows a lot of options though. Good luck.

Ive never used one of these but heard they work great. A little pricey but then again so is major hail damage. My buddy in FL just got his F150 back from the shop yesterday with $6,900 in hail damage. ? Needless to say a little to late but now he's now buying one.

I had a Lexus RX350 that got beat up in a hail storm to the tune of $9,000. My 2001 Ranger was parked right beside it and received only a single dimple on the passenger side window sill trim. The body panels on that truck were definitely Built Ford Tough!

I am anxiously awaiting an insurance appointment on Tuesday for hail damage to my Ranger. It's not pretty. The roof and hood look like a golf ball. The windshield is cracked. There are dents all down the passenger side. Fender, both doors, bed side, and the "aperture" above the doors are all dented.

You're right to think of this, our Rangers have pretty thin sheet metal. I have dozens of tiny dings from acorns.

Acorns?!?

I've dropped wrenches and even hammers on my old FJ40 with nada. But a friggin' acorn? Bah!

before Ranger dents, acorns could be a fun game theme, now they only make me rage! as do squirrels ...
