Hail stone protection for the Ford Ranger

Anyone know of an inexpensive hail stone protection for the Ford Ranger?
My vehicle is always outside and during the month of April sometimes the spring storms will bring hail. Using cloth or plastic tarps will not cut it because they will scratch the paint.

a do it yourself carport? tarp sitting on the vehicle wouldnt help anyway.
Inexpensive?
I was thinking of using "special" pool noodles to cushion the impact and special non abrasive cloth covering.

I need to get on this too. My plan is pool noodles strung together.

All you really need is top cab protection, windshield and hood protection. Using a non abrasive cloth on the sides might do the job. Hail normally does not travel sideways but straight up/down.

I've had two of the garage tent setups from Shelter Logic. If you are able to use one at your location, I recommend checking it out. They don't last long in high (50 mph, in my case) winds, but work very well in all other conditions.

A Colorado hailstorm in 2017 did $2.3B in damage, my wife Hyundai had $11.5k in damage including replacing hood, windshield and hatch glass, roof, quarter panel, even the gas filler door was broken in two by a hail. I just keep my comp insurance deductible at $100 .

Now I see many car dealership have stalls with roofs over the cars.

They don't make vehicles like they use to.
What was the size of the hail that caused this much damage?
Sounds like in Colorado you need a Norad bunker to protect your vehicle.
The hail, in Ohio, normally is < moth ball size.

size varies greatly, baseball size not unheard of but golf ball more common, the $2.3B was the insurance claim total, so damage was even higher. The altitude along the front ranger, Denver is > 5,280 promotes nasty hail storms and insurance rates reflect that, I lost a roof 2 yrs back with only nickle size hail but for 30 minutes it was so intense you couldn't see more than 15 ft or so. And as the pics show it was coming down sidways.

damage pics of denver's 2017 hail storm

No problem with noodles or even a cardboard box...place a tarp over it....will make hail bounce off. Been there.

Using foam pool noodles 52" long 2 1/2" diameter and one inch hollow core, a person could weave, with 550 paracord, a noodle hail protection blanket for the hood, windshield and top cab roof. If done right, it could double as a foam blanket placed in the back of the Ranger truck bed.

The first picture with foam pool noodles will do the job. :like:
The last picture will have the SWAT team with their guns drawn. Whoops, Canadians are
not allowed guns
