so i put on 285 70 17 Cooper Evo m/t. they are on the big side of the market for the size. 32.96 they fit the sport rims fine. however they do rub and full turn in either direction. truck has 2.5 lift all around. side wall is very close to spindle. like 3/8 inch... so spacers or wheels needed. my question for the world is what off set do i need? my ranger will be flexed and off road often and using full turn etc.. so what off set do i need?
I have 1" wheel spacers on +55 wheels, @AndyMedic has +1 wheels with no spacers.

In my opinion, those are the two options. (+1 is basically 0)

0 is very common in the Tacoma world, so the wheels run a-plenty.

Oh man. I hope it does solve it. I feel like I've seen a lot of 5g trucks on 33s. Maybe someone that is doing it successfully can chime in .

Something to think about: the top of the tire does not flex. If its not touching the spindle now, it won't touch the spindle ever...

I run 285/70r17, I don't think I needed a spacer to fit. I put them on when I had skinnier 255/80r17s so they would sit farther out. I never took them off. With the 1" spacer and +55, I am sitting closer to +35 offset. I was able to fit 285/70r17 on a completely stock truck, only kissing the crash bars.

@AndyMedic had to show me up and get dope wheels.

I like that the wheels sit flush with the fenders on my truck. I've beat my wheels to crap, so they will get replaced eventually.

I have a picture somewhere on this forum of my order and tires. I can take a picture if wanted tomorrow also. Mine are a touch past the fender wall.

Mark, it’s important to have a little bit more info just so you know exactly what you might be in for. Particularly as it relates to crash bars.

@Colo_Ranger - I see you have no front crash bars - were the rear bars also removed, cut, replaced with aftermarket?

@AndyMedic - what’s your crash bar situation - removed, cut, aftermarket?

Mark already rubs at full lock and if he throws on a spacer or goes with a lower offset wheel to provide some back space, that rubbing could get worse. Did you guys experience the same? How did you remedy it?

This. If it's not rubbing now, it won't rub later.

To bring it to the same clearance as factory, you need a half inch spacer or a wheel with +40mm offset. Factory is +55mm.
Your Tiresize.com report shows a 255 factory tire going to 285, but the factory tire is 265, so it's 20mm up-sizing to go 285, not 25mm.

A 10mm (3/8") spacer, or +45 off set rim will put the 285 tire, back to the same space from the spindle as factory. I know it's not a big difference, just pointing out the 255 type-o.

Hey Jay, how’s it going?

I pulled that number from my window sticker. Maybe our tires differ by model year or trim level. ?‍♂

Pics or it didn’t happen, right?

Hey Duke, my apologies. I thought all Rangers came on 265s.
Maybe it’s a Lariat or an FX4 thing - I thought they all came on 255s. ?

I'm running a 285/70 r17 8.5 with 0 offset. 2 inch level kit for tremor.
