If you plan on keeping a vehicle for less than the warranty period, I can see where the Ram would be attractive.

They look good, have a great interior, and they ride MUCH better than the other trucks due to their rear suspension.

But, like the F150 and the Silverado, they're just YYUUUUGGGGEE.

Honestly, I wanted Ram to bring the Dakota back in earnest but they never did. Among midsize trucks that actually exist, I think we all picked the best one ?

That shows just how relative opinions like this can really be. I have had 3 Dakotas over the years, an 87, 89, and an 04. They were all surprisingly great and reliable and I have always considered them a high point of the otherwise crappy Chrysler line. That 87 had 339,000 miles on the same 3.9 and transmission. Someone is probably still driving it if its not been wrecked. Its all about each individuals experience.

Same experience here. Had an 88 and a 2000. Rumor has it that 88 might still be driving around. Everything after 05 was downhill...

There was nothing "wrong" with mine. It was just an appliance. Like driving a Toyota or Nissan there was no joy in the experience.

I have a feeling I might've been happy with one of the V8s. But the 175 hp 3.9 was agonizing to drive.

True, and in all honesty the 04 I had was the lesser of the 3 Dakotas. Weird crap like headliner falling and seatbelts breaking happened to it. Plus exhaust manifold leak that NO mechanic in town would even touch, apparently that 318 had to come out to do that repair. Wow, ok maybe it was crap after all lol.

I've owned only fords except one dodge. In 2011 I bought a ram longhorn. Had it ten years. It was a good truck we hauled alot of cattle with it. It cracked one exhaust manifold . At the time we had two super duties both were good trucks. The ram was my daily driver. I sold it in the spring and bought my tremor. Why? I wanted something fun and apparently I'm going through a mid life crisis.

Back in early 2000's I saw a really nice black/chrome Dacota, I really wanted it, so I drove it.
I like to feel the road & this thing was just horrible, way too 'mushy/soft' for me.
May have been a great truck but the ride was just horrible.

I rented a RAM 1500 and was really surprised how good that truck was. It was fast, handled really well, braked really well, etc. It was also very refined. It really had nothing that my F150 had that it couldn't match. Well, except for my F150's Coyote V8 and that lush exhaust note and power. That's why I didn't buy the RAM! But I do like them and how good their interiors are and how well their chassis drives, and how handsome they are.

I did eventually replace my F150 because I didn't need such big trucks. The Ranger rides and drives (Tremor) better than that RAM and my '19 F150 XLT. I do miss the V8's. That's the one thing that I harken back to. Having said that, I prefer the 2.3 Ecoboost over the mid-size truck V6's out there. The EB 4's just have more torque down low and in the midrange, and that's where I want it most. My Ranger feels snappier than my Ford F150 with the 395 hp Coyote V8. But when I go WOT, nothing can keep up with that F150!

AZ residents love Tacoma’s. In my hometown of flagstaff it seems like people drive Subarus, Tacoma’s or Jeeps. Lol.
I'm finally starting to see more and more Rangers around my area. This place it littered with Tacos, I have 3-4 of them just driving out of my community. :puke:

Yeah we go up to Flagstaff every summer and you're right those 3 dominate that area.

That's why I really wanted a Bronco. It would be a little different (for a few years) from all the Tacos and Jeeps in my area. Now that I have a Jeep coming I notice them more and more...They're everywhere here. lol

I "feel" like I hear this alot, "I came from a Ram and I love my Ranger" or to a lesser degree "I don't like this Ranger and I'm trading it for a Ram." Why would these two even be cross shopped at all? Maybe I'm imagining things.
Because Consumer Reports picked the RAM as the best truck ?

Nothing beats the sound of a well tuned V8, LS or Coyote, just music to my ears.
