Ouch! I'll admit, there are many like that, but not all of us are the same way. EDIT: Granted, you haven't "met" me yet. Lol

hey not to hijack the thread but has anyone seen the latest Toyota commercial showing I think a Tundra, Tacoma and 4runner driving in a circle stirring up dust ? Wondering if the Tundra is a 2022, if so the new front end seems to look ok, they have a female driving the Tacoma or 4Runner or maybe both, I think that's clever of Toyota, if it's the Tacoma the seating position is perhaps more comfortable for the fairer sex ?
It's 2021. You really can't tell if it's a male or female. And I don't think we are supposed to acknowledge a difference...or similarities...or the real differences. It could have been Bruce Jenner for all we know.

I'm also in IT but I lean more toward the heavy on the Sarcasm spectrum.

Make that HEAVY on the Sarcasm.

Wait, Toyota has a commercial where the driver rear ends a Lexus and kills someone? Isn't that fratricide brand-wise?

Well sometimes referring to a "tranny" these days I guess could have differing interpretations.

I think if I was driving a taco, I'd be a tad defensive too.

I wouldn't give high marks to Ford's or GMs marketing/advertising efforts, I think Toyota, Nissan and Hyundai do a better job overall. But I think Ricardo Montebalm's work for Chrysler is one for the ages.

The only experiences I have had with Tacoma owners are that for some odd reason they keep trying to get me to race them. This has happened on numerous different occasions both on surface streets but on the freeway as well. They start yelling and waving revving engines or lurching forward anything to get my attention... They get so mad when I don't take them up on their challenges, and just look over at them and shake my head in that what a dumbass kind of fashion.

For the life of me I cannot fathom why they keep doing this. There's absolutely nothing about my truck that says, "hey douche! Wanna race?"
Yeah, I get that too!?‍♀:sunglasses:

That’s nothing compared to the thread over on TW.

Has anyone beaten a new Ranger yet? Anyone???
Yeah but over there they'll all lie and say they smoked every Ranger they raced! Glad I have my dash cam, now I can video it and post it over there. ?

There will be a whole new grip of words used, with different inferences. Geek, nerd, square, rube, cis?, het?, burber, mayo...

It'll be one thing, get co-opted, and the term will lose potency and meaning.

If you don't like the term, whatever snaps your strap-on ... Just remember that terms change over time, and the verbiage you use to disparage someone may have similar harmful effects.

I sincerely hope you warrant the pulpit you are preaching from.
I believe he does. I think we could go without using derogatory words to describe people.

Man, I way over-estimated your conversational capabilities.

Here, let me explain this to you with crayons.

LOTS WORDS USED THEN BAD NOW. LOTS WORDS USED NOW BAD LATER.

IF YOU WANT SAY BAD WORDS BAD NOW, JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE BIG BRAIN THING AND NOT USE WORDS THAT BAD LATER OK?

Basically don't be a fucking hypocrite and use language that singles anyone out. Because what you think is alright today may just be the "don't spread such ignorance" getting tossed in your face a few times around the sun.

It's not complicated. Have a good day, shithead.
Tell me just when in history was that term acceptable?

I'm 45 and can't remember a time that was actually acceptable.

Dire Straits caught flak for it in the same song mentioned in this thread about 4 decades ago.

By acceptable I mean, would you say it in front of your mom?

I'm a paleo conservative asshole who hates everybody and cusses like a sailor and even I don't use that term.

Also, you can't equate holding somebody accountable to the social norms of today to holding somebody accountable to the social norms of tomorrow.

I'll bet you wouldn't dare walk down Crenshaw screaming the N word because "it was acceptable back then."
