I don't get the option to download.

The only option I'm offered is the $40 USB, labeled as the "recommended" option.
Have you downloaded a file before? Curious if you only get 1 'complementary' download, then they charge after that?

I believe this is the case.

1 and done.

Not that it really matters much to me since I never use the factory Nav, I just thought it would be nice to have the latest update if it was available.

I believe it's now similar to other markets where it's something like 3-5 years free, then pay.

I didn't have the option to download or purchase. States NA 1 19 is the most current version available.

Doesn't my truck automatically update to this over wifi?

If you have it hooked to WiFi and Automatic Updates enabled, yes, it'll update in the background itself over time.
Would it be OK to leave the ignition in ACC mode to let it update?

Edit: Mine is now pulling the newest map OTA.

Looks like it may take a while...

The 5U5T file finally downloaded and updated the sync build to 21020.
Now, the 4U5T file is downloading, probably the map update.

I think OTA downloading during prime time hours is slow due to ford servers being used by everyone. Maybe better to kick it off in the wee hours.

I kept going into the garage yesterday and turning on the radio and going to the screen showing the download progress then went back inside. That took a while.

The plot thickens:

I went onto https://syncnavigation.com/ford/home, typed in my VIN and ESN, and it told me I had a map update available. So I placed the order (at no cost since it's a download), I downloaded the ZIP (12.3GB) and proceeded with the update using a USB stick. Took its sweet time. I came back to a successful update, and it was still showing on NA119 running on 3.4.21020... Not sure why it told me there was an update in the first place.

So I called the number provided in the email confirmation (https://syncnavigation.com/ford/contactus)

Questions on Map installation and/or SYNC® 3 software updates for your vehicle
Please contact the Ford CRC at (800) 392-3673

The rep confirmed that as of today, the latest map version is NA119.

So not sure what "Syn3 Updater" is referring to. Except if maybe it gets access to updates somewhere in a backend, before the Ford websites and reps even do. It's possible; I'll try all this again in a few days.

The end.
Syn3 Updater sees whatever's on the server, usually before Ford starts pushing it out. I got build 20351 a while back by using it and I'm not sure if that one even rolled out to you guys OTA :p

FYI (another data point) - I downloaded to a USB drive and updated this morning - it now shows the 21020. HOWEVER - I still can't get the website to acknowledge the update. I can't upload my XML and I tried to check for updates on the truck twice today but it still thinks I need 21020. So that part hasn't changed for me.

The good news is that it does seem a bit snappier to me.

Connect to wifi and run a manual scan for updates. This will force the system to recongnize that you have updated.

Thanks folks!

I saw this thread;
Went to owner.ford.com, downloaded the update, put it on a USB, installed (took 35 min), didn't get a .xml file to upload, so did Check for updates on truck (it did notify the owner.ford site, and also downloaded and installed the 4U5T.....file (another 35 min), and now I'm at Sync 3.4.21020, NAV NA 2 20.

Your experiences and suggestions made it a piece of cake.

Thanks again!

Was 4U5T downloaded over the air, or from a website and transferred to USB?

I did. Twice. Still no changes.
