First daily was a '72 VW Super Beetle. Learned to drive in it and fix it. First Ford as a daily was the 2010 Fusion my daughter now has. Unless I count the '78 Mercury Zephyr we called heifer. Ugh.

Learned how to drive on a pea green with Starsky and Hutch stripes Pinto. Then borrowed the Escort thru college. For some odd reason I bought a Mercury Marquis when I graduated in 85.
And this is what it looks like now (yes, I still have it):

Rob, That Capri is gorgeous!
I bought a 72 Capri in the 90s as a beater daily driver. 2.0L 4 banger with 210k miles and ran like a top, smoked "a bit". But was a fun car to drive.

My Ranger is my 1st Ford since then.

First Ford was a 1989 Ranger XLT 2WD long bed with a 2.9L V-6 and a 5 speed. It was a sleeper too....surprised a lot of Camaros and S-10's with the 4.3.

First DD was back in 92. It was a candy apple red 1984 chevy S10 with a 2 inch body lift, american racing modular wheels and 255 RWL tires. It had a roll bar with KC lights up top and cobra cb with a 10 ft stainless whip. It had a power steering pump from a 72 impala and a steering box from a 90 s10. The heart of the beast was 229 cid V6 from a 79 monte carlo bored .030 over with a edelbrock high rise intake ,mild cam, milled heads ,custom headers and a holly 400 on top all going through a turbo 350 tranny with reconfigured check balls for super hard shifts and 410 gears from 85 Scottdale. She was pure Frankenstein ! but she looked good and ran even better. No one ever believed it was a v6 untill I opened the hood and made them count the plug wires. I could never get it hook up off the line but from 30-90 it would keep up with my dads 91 corvette grand sport which made something like 350/350 hp/tq ( not too shabby back then). My dad walked me through the build from a full body off frame resto. Took us my entire sophmore year of high school at night and on weekends. Man I loved that truck. Sadly I have no pictures of this beauty and sold it before I even graduated from high school. Its crazy to think of all the wrenching ...and fitting ...and cursing... and busted knuckles it took for that truck keep up with a vette ( even if it was only for a few hundred feet ) when now with my basically stock ranger all I gotta do is turn the key and mash the pedal ? (against a stock 91 vette anyway )???
My fist ford was a 1989 ford ranger 2.3L 5 spd I bought from my father-in-law back in 2000 for $1500. I looked a little rough but it only had 50K miles on it and ran great.
It served me well for 3 years and never gave me any problems having 110K when I traded up to a 2001 F150.

Thanks - my son and I restored in about 10 years ago. It has the 2.6 v6 - by today's standards it is a a slug (I've never dynoed it, but it if made 150hp it would be a miracle), but it is still a blast to drive. It is now just a car show and sunny day car. One of the cool things is I get so many people come up to me at car shows and say "I used to have one of those - I wish I had never gotten rid of it". I almost never see another Capri at any show - I like having an unusual car. I guess it is kind of what started me being pretty much a Ford guy. It didn't hurt that my wife came from a Ford family as well. I have to say, my Ford's have treated me pretty well over the years.

This isn’t my exact car but this was identical to my first Ford. It was a 1993 Ford Escort LX 5-speed. It looked way cooler then. I definitely enjoy my new Ranger a lot more lol my first car was in 1990 and it was a Hyundai Excel GLS 4 door hatchback with a 5-speed. I abused that so so much had 2 bbl carb (only year with no fuel injection) and I would rev that thing up to 7K all day long hit 8200 once and didn’t damage anything but it was clearly having issues.

First Ford, an 89 Ranger Sport, 2wd extended cab, 4cyl 5spd. My dad bought it new in 89, I bought it from him in 1995 with 175k on the clock and drove it for two more years. I passed it on the highway in 2000, no idea what happened to it after that.

I don't know if @P. A. Schilke was involved with those Rangers, but I sold it with 196k on the clock with the only major repairs over that being a timing belt, clutch, and fuel pump. That's what sold me on the RBVs. If he was involved, I'd like him to know that.

My first Ford product was a 1949 Lincoln that was abandoned behind the machine shed on the farm I was working at with another kid. We were 15 and we kinda commandeered/liberated it in '65.
We got it running and chased rabbits with it in a cornfield that was left dormant.
First legit Ford was an '82 Escort GL: pop-out sunroof, no AC. # 1 of 9 Fords, 3 Mercurys out of 25 total all brands.
