No one has shown it is necessary on a Ranger. Or at least I don’t remember seeing any pictures on here. That said I’m sure somebody will post a picture of some other engine that needed it.
I guess you need to have spent time as a flat rate tech to understand. Every shop has lulls now and then. Your name was on a list somewhere and apparently the dealer must need work. Just my opinion but I’ve been there.

Better than no warranty with an aftermarket tune. I’m not sure anyone has had a powertrain warranty declined because of a Ford tune. If they have speak up. I’m past it anyway.
Ford tune is pretty simple. Download the tune from the app, connect to the truck. It downloads your original tune and then you install the new tune. No big deal.
