First tow for the truck and first camping trip of the year! The Ranger had no problems and felt great not having to borrow a truck for once! Cheers everyone!

What are the specs(weight/length) of the camper? Looking at upgrading to something a similar size

Its a 97 Coachman Catalina Lite 21'. Dry weight is about 3500lbs. Was very easy to tow behind the Ranger. Would easily recommend something of similar size!

Its a 97 Coachman Catalina Lite 21'. Dry weight is about 3500lbs. Was very easy to tow behind the Ranger. Would easily recommend something of similar size!
I have a 2018 Forrest River 207BH, it's about 22' long and dresses out to about 4000-4500# wet. I would say it tows perfectly, but my only comparison was a Jeep which was sketchy as heck when towing the trailer.

Before I got this truck I used to borrow a 2004 Expedition to tow with and I always thought that was pretty solid. This truck blows it out of the water to be honest. Was much more comfortable with the trailer behind which lead to being happy and relaxed quicker when camping!

Aermacchi, HD owned controlling interest until 77 then sold to Cagiva. This is a 78 and actually built after AMF/HD sold Aermacchi.

Thanks for the posts. When towing your ~4000 pound trailers up long grades does the Ranger struggle to maintain 60-65 MPH?
I am on my way home from a 3,000 mile trip. The Ranger has absolutely NO difficulty maintaining any speed I have set (up to 70) pulling about 5000 pounds. The "drag" from my large frontal area has the greatest effect on fuel use. I can see the difference from 60 to 65 mph on the fuel used. Up the "steepest" grade I encountered while going 65, the Ranger went as low a 7th gear. This is all in "TOW MODE".
One additional note, Higher Octane gas does not seem to increase the mpg, BUT it DOES increase the power available. I was using 93 octane at one point and passed several trucks going up hill. It accelerated quickly from about 58 mph to 75. I don't think it could do that with 87 octane. BUT at that performance level it really gulps the gas.
UPDATE: Last trip I decided to use "regular" all the way home (empty trailer, about 3200 pounds). 1500 miles. There definitely WAS an increase in fuel consumption. I plan to stick with "mid-grade" fuel next trip.

Thanks for posting. Very helpful information. My salesman will let me test drive a ranger while towing my boat but it sounds like my 4000 lb boat (with minimal frontal area) should not be a problem for the Ranger.

Picked up the Ranger on Friday and headed to the lake to finally leave the boat down there. My '17 TRD Pro Tacoma struggled pulling this super light boat at 70, the Ranger laughed at it like it was nothing.

I'll be pulling my aluminum car trailer and S2000 out to Power Cruise this coming weekend, and can't wait to see how well the Ranger will pull that.

Finished a tow of mixed driving through mountains/foothills and traveling any were from 55 to 70 mph. Averaged 12.6 mpg on 260 mile trip. Very happy with this truck, and love the 10 spd for towing. Always in the right spot and never feels like the engine is screaming.
