Been towing this back and forth from work to the gas station twice a day for nearly 2 weeks. The airend on my big 50hp IR compressor decided it didn't want turn any more.

Compared to when I towed this same type of compressor with my 15 Colorado, I will say it tows better with the Ranger. Having no trailer brake, braking is the same between the 2 trucks....shitty. I echo @RCMUSTANG sentiments about the brakes being soft. But if I tap them a few times before actually trying to stop, it's a lot better. In Tow Mode, the engine braking helps but I feel the brakes could be better. I have not tried to seat the brakes as suggested by someone else but I doubt it would make a difference. For the short distance I'm going and never exceeding 50mph, Tow Mode is just a waste of fuel.

Made a few trips back and forth to the racetrack with a 16’ flat deck car hauler with race car on it. Scale says trailer is 4000lbs. Was a little spongy in the back without the WD hitch. Set the WD hitch, and it was much better. Power is adequate but you certainly know the trailer is there when accelerating. Very similar acceleration to my 2016 f150 with 3.31 gearing.

Here is another picture of my Ranger with trailer taken from 2nd floor motel window. Averaged 15.7 mpg on the trip home (800-plus miles). Acceleration was slowed some. Brakes worked very well with the P3 controller.

I have been researching and absorbing everything I can about the 2019 Ranger and I am contemplating ordering a 2020 Ranger. We use our boat a lot. It is a SeaRay on a single axle trailer. Fully loaded with gear and gas this boat and trailer weigh exactly 4000 pounds (had it on a scale). I currently tow it with a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 with a 6.0 V8 and 3.73 rear end.

We tow frequently to a lake that is 12 miles away. Twice a year we tow to lakes about 270 miles away. I'm thinking the Ranger will probably do fine with this boat but would like to hear opinions from any forum members that tow trailers in this weight range. An F-150 would be nice but they have grown very large and no longer fit comfortably in our garage.

I have already learned a lot from this forum. Thanks.

Truck loaded down to 6100lbs, trailer loaded to 4100lbs (both numbers rounded up), averaging 15-17L/100km, cruise set to 110KM/H

I should note I varied between 7 and 8th gear, as that’s where the best fuel economy and least amount of boost was used. Left to its own devices, it wanted 10th gear, but I felt the RPMs were too low. Running 91 octane (highest available here)

Thanks for the posts. When towing your ~4000 pound trailers up long grades does the Ranger struggle to maintain 60-65 MPH?

Depends on the wind resistance of the trailer. With the Flat deck car hauler, it didn’t even blink an eye. Towed my ‘76 camper (2800lbs), but it’s basically a sail, and it was full throttle to go up a 6% grade, 5th gear, and water temp climbing (220F is when I let off and slowed down).

Earlier this month, my friend and I towed a Scout 215, (approx 4200 lbs) it had gear and 82 gallons on board for approx 60 miles. (I don’t know the actual weight of the tandem trailer, as it was borrowed)
I must say I’m impressed with the Ranger. The Tow Haul mode handled great.
The Ranger drove like stock, no whining, no rpm over revving, no dramas, lol.
I think Ford really did well with the Ecoboost engine and the 10 speed transmission.

I'm guessing that boat/trailer/load was around 6500 pounds (maybe a little more). Were you towing at highway speeds? Any steep grades? Your post was helpful. Thank you.

There was a few hills along the way. (nothing crazy)
On the highway, we cruised up to 55-60, then mostly local roads.
Not sure about actual weight, but I made sure we didn’t go over 7500 lbs.
The boat had a full tank 82 gallons(684 lbs?) plus motor, gear etc, we roughly calculated at 4150 lbs.
The trailer we borrowed was rated for up to 25 foot boat (weighs prob 2000lbs),
so Im guessing its close to that.:)
