My 2020 Ranger Lariet is now 5 years old. I'm not having battery issues, but wondering if it's in my best interest to be pro-active and replace my battery.
Opinions?
If I were to install a new battery myself, would it be harmful if I used a ODB memory saver so I don't have to deal with any BCM issues, drivers window, radio pre-sets etc...
Also, given that there are so few battery manufactures (about 3) I'm thinking it probably does not matter what BRAND I purchase as long as it meets the minimum requirements for my Lariet (i.e., H7 AGM battery with min 800cca).
All comments welcome and appreciated.

As mentioned, use a battery tester. A proper load test will determine the health. That said with 5 years of age, it may not be a bad idea to replace the battery. Just remember to do the BMS reset.

The car I drive for work was sending the owner alerts that the battery was getting close to failing and if it did it would start shutting systems down to allow the car to run long enough to get off the road if it fails. I took it to get tested and the results said the battery needed to be charged before it could be tested. I drive this car over a hundred miles a day, sometimes two hundred, you would think that would be enough to keep it charged. I drive 20 miles to delivery areas then hit two or three stops in that area, then 25 minutes non stop back.

He said just have it replaced so I didn't end up having a problem while making my rounds. The radio didn't lose the presets but it's a 2020 base fusion. I have heard on the cars with all the electrics it's good to plug a 12 volt source into the diagnostic port. I bought one of those off amazon for like fifteen bucks but haven't used it yet.

My truck is also a 2020, had it 4yrs 10months. I just went to Costco and purchased a battery(the XLT one) for 195$ I think after returning my core. I had a low oil pressure light come on while driving for a few minutes and I found online some folks saying that can be from a bad battery. I did have the correct oil level so I blamed the battery.

It can’t hurt and 195$ is worth the life of mind for me.

Usually there is plenty of warning with the Ranger. It will start to notify you that ASS isn't working, and when that rolls around it is usually a good time to put a new battery in.

My 12 V power in the bed would not time out after 5 years. That was telling me voltage drop is due for a new battery. After replacing it, all problems went away.
I've always had OBD memory saver and works Flawlessly at keeping memory alive. Just be mindful and keep the positive terminal protected during swap.

Just as @Toytec says, be mindful of that terminal block. Coincidentally, that 225 amp circuit breaker/fuse is also its price in Canuck Bucks.

Last time I changed my battery (Nov 2024), I just pulled the old one out and put the new one in immediately. I lost no presets nor the driver's window auto function. Nothing else added or done. Just a quick swap.

I did my 2019 after about 5 years. It wasn't any more flaky than it was from the factory in terms of ASS, but I didn't really want to wait until it died and left me somewhere in the boonies.

The Ford Motocraft batteries seem to last around 5 years. In Mar of this year, I replaced the original one at the dealer. The Ford app indicated an issue, plus having just been at the dealer looking at a Blue certified 2019 Ranger Sport (bought it next day), battery failed briefly at home, so went back to dealer and got a new one installed. Around $225 including core charge. No issues since. On to the new used Ranger...asked the loan guy had the battery been replaced on the used Ranger I was buying. No he said but he talked with the used car manager and they gave me points to cover a new battery. Took it next day to Quick Lane, new battery installed and away I went. Long story, but worth your wile to just replace it at 5 years. Most all my Fords for the past 25 years have had their batteries last 5 years. Just do it!

Going on 5 years on my original. Been using the on board desulfator. I haven't checked it in a while but last time I did it was healthy. If I have to use my Noco jump pack, it's time to get a new battery.

I have the 2020 Oct build lariat and I had my battery replaced at Autozone, they used an ODB memory saver and it worked fine.

The reason I replaced it was it suddenly locked my truck with the key fob inside, and the app wouldn't unlock the truck. Costed me $150 to get it unlocked.... plus the cost of the battery. :)

I'll have to agree with some of the others here... On my 2019 Ranger, the battery started to show signs of end-of-life at around 5.5 years, it wasn't dead or even having a problem starting, but you can just tell it's not 100%. I also wanted to get it changed out before the Winter cold placed a greater burden on the battery.
Went with the updated (greater cold cranking AMPS) OEM Motorcraft BAGM 94RH7, installed myself. No issues with having to reset anything but the Drivers window, as indicated in the owners manual. The reason I went OEM was it was the same pricing as aftermarket at local Auto Parts places and I knew there would be no possible install issues.
