I'm not sure if this has been asked/answered but if one was to drive normal, i.e., driving for fuel economy, will this tune increase, decrease or keep it about the same? I would do a 93 octane tune fwiw.

I'm not really concerned with fuel economy but it is nice that I can get pretty good fuel economy when I want to.
When driving for fuel economy, you will get better (or worst case, the same) gas mileage with the performance tune.

Can confirm, my MPG went up from 20.x to 23.x with the 91-93 soft shift. I'm not always an  either.

If anything I would still like an update in the MyTouch Calibrator for an actual boost pressure gauge. Yes we hap map but it like the PSI reading better.

I can confirm the wait is rough! Ordered mine and there was a delay due to out of stock, arrived just when they said it would. Now waiting for the tune. Reading all the stories here has me constantly checking email for the tune notification so I can get it loaded and try it out!

Excuse me for dumb questions please, but I've never had a truck like this.

So, you order this thing, plug it in and it just retunes the truck to drive better?

I looked on the site and it said No Towing. Why is that?

Basically what you said is correct. Once you get the tunes for your truck you plug the MyCal into your OBDII socket and flash the computer with the new data. The truck performs much better than stock and the transmission shifting is greatly improved as well. Concerning the no tow, they have a specific tow tune that you should load if you are going to tow something. The tow tune is also awesome and greatly improves the truck’s ability.

So, there are different tunes from the same tuner? You just buy the one thing that plugs in?

Yes, multiple tunes from the same tuner. No extra cost--if that might be your next question. ? If you want to change tunes (on the truck) for a trip towing something then you download that tune on the truck. Or if you're planning to race a corvette you can load a different tune. ?The tuner doesn't have to stay plugged in, but can to use as a guage.

Thank you. So I buy the widget, load racecar tune onto it, plug it into my truck, upload that tune (program, file, whatever), unplug and go race a corvette. Then when I need the trailer, I load a tow tune on my computer with widget plugged into computer, go out to truck, plug in widget and up load tow tune.

Is that right?

Does this interfere with the ForScan stuff?

Basically, yes. Just keep in mind that the tranny shifts rough for a while after flashing as it goes through it's learning process. So maybe flash the tow tune a week or 2 before you intend to actually tow.

Also, it's recommended to flash back to stock for dealership visits that may involve them flashing any of the vehicles modules.

My guess would be junk.

Even though that shows compatibility with all of the Ranger engines, the 2.3 from the old Ranger is not the same 2.3 that we have.

That box is sometimes referred to as a "liar" in that it lies to the ECU to increase boost.

With a modern turbocharged engine, there are MANY parameters that need to be taken into account to safely tune the vehicle, which is why a good tune costs hundreds.

A box like that simply tells the ECU that it is seeing lower numbers than reality so that the engine will try to compensate by adding boost.
