I generally plan to change the oil at 5000, so that when life gets in they way, and I get busy ect, I have some buffer to actually change it around 6-7 haha

My father in law bought his daughters old Tahoe that always had regular service at jiffy lube right? It required a screwdriver to get the oil out. Not this bad but it was damn close. Definitely a WTF moment. To bad this was before camera phones.

German manuf European 0w30 Castrol edge always gave me the worst numbers from Blackstone ..

I ran Mobil 1 0w-30 in my old Sport Trac for 5k and the UOA from Blackstone was less than optimal.
I've run Pennzoil Platinum with a Mobil 1 filter in my daughter's Fiesta for 10k and the UOA was fine.
Oddly Pennzoil Platinum does not meet the Ford Spec in the manual but Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 EP do.
My main concern is the bearings in the turbo since those things spin at like 12,000 rpm. Changing the oil every 5k is cheap insurance.

Here's my Blackstone. 10k OCI looks to be in the clear... with plain old Motorcraft 5w30. I've done full and blend synthetic versions here in the shown history. The BITOG people have heartburn in the loss of viscosity down to a 5w20 equivalent, but it bothers me none.

BTW, I have the Ford Performance engine tune and K&N air filter that comes with it.

If you're planning on selling or trading in, then yes...save your money...I'm keeping mine for the long run so I change around 5,000 miles...

I change my own oil & filter. I use either a Motorcraft FL-910S or a Mobil 1 M102A which ever is available. I use Valvoline 5w30 Extended Performance. I was using Mobil 1 Extended Performance but lately its been hard to find in my area. It may be over kill but I change my oil every 5000 miles. These engines work hard & tend to run hotter the naturally aspirated engines. Again it may be over kill but its not a bad thing to keep your motor clean with fresh oil.
