Almost 4 1/2 years (117,000kms).....battery wasn't showing symptoms of failure on the daily but the dealership where I get service work done always checks on it and came back at 54% capacity...or specifically registering 410 CCA from the original 760CCA

Winter is here and I figured best to just go ahead and get a new one.

Fun fact.... batteries are expensive

Went with a NAPA AGM legend with 6 year warranty...that should do it

I just replaced mine and it would have been 5 years old this coming January 3rd. I figured also that since winter is here or approaching time to replace it. Empire battery which my company purchases hundreds of batteries from so I got the company deal only $205. I do only have 23,000 miles on a 2020 Ranger Lariat.

‘19 Ranger - bought March ‘19 (assembled in Jan I believe). Still original battery.

‘17 Escape - bought October’16. Still original battery.

I disable auto-start/stop every time I drive (part of the start up/take-off procedures!). A couple years ago people didn’t seem sold on AGM batteries but my experience has obviously been positive (knocking wood that I didn’t jinx myself).

This is in a climate that gets both hot and cold through the seasons, which I’m pretty sure actually helps prolong the life of them.

Our build date of 6/2020 puts the battery at 5.5 years. When not driven for a few days, I keep our CTEK MXS_5.0 battery maintainer plugged in. Haven't had any problems, but due to age, I wondered about the health. Checked with a TOPDON battery tester yesterday.

If the battery is this bad, then why aren't we having problems ??

I did not disconnect the battery. Is this the proper way to test ??

If your maintainer has a desulfate mode, I would run that. I saved my neighbors battery that was way worse than that.

It is very difficult to get the Topdon clamps properly connected to the battery with the bus work/clamps attached to get an accurate reading. If in doubt, remove the battery cables/connections from both battery posts and retest for the most accurate reading.

Looks like us 2019 owners not only got 6 bed tie downs, we also got long life batteries.
Never had a battery tender on mine. Not driven at times for up to two weeks, no issues starting, but those pesky Gremlins...

On my '19 Ranger the battery had 2 dead cells in 18 months that they replaced under warranty. I think Chris @Chris M had his replaced early too. But we both live in AZ where the heat destroys batteries quickly. My Tacoma battery only lasted a little over 2 years before it died. I never replaced a battery in any of my F150's when I lived back in MA.

New England was a great place to live up into my 60's . Honestly, when my wife retires this year, she will be putting on a search for renting or buying a home in a warmer, more tax friendly state.
