Battery failing?

Does anyone know what Voltage is required to activate the ASS? The Manual says it only has to satisfy the Voltage Requirement.

I still have to charge mine and do a test drive.

Anyone know how accurate the noco genius2 battery percentage is? I only got the 2 amp one to keep it to a slow charge and because it was on sale. I plugged it in and it's saying my battery is around 25%. Reason I'm doubting it is that it says it's capable of 40Ah batteries and the ford one is an 80Ah. I haven't had any issues starting the truck, just no auto start stop lately. Also from what I could find the stock battery is AGM so that's the mode I put it in. Someone message me quick if that's wrong.

Update: left the charger on for 2 hours and when I came back it was showing fully charged. Pulled out the multi meter and was showing 12.6 volts, up from 12.1 when I started. I guess the battery wasn't as drained as I thought. I'll test again in the morning to see how it held up overnight.

When you get the ?ASS symbol on the dash have you checked the economy screen to see why ASS is not functioning?

I ask because "battery charging" is not the only condition that will prevent ASS from functioning. Max AC, extreme cold, and maybe some others will keep it from engaging as well.

I had almost the exact same thing happen, ironically enough on my test drive…. went to stop leaving the dealer’s lot and ended up jerking forward into the street, good thing nobody was coming. Not a peep from the sales guy in back either. Happened again a few days later, and I found that I was used to covering the gas and rotating my foot to hit the brake when needed. The Ranger really doesn’t like that…. seems to be way too easy to hit both pedals especially with big old Canadian winter boots. Changed my foot positioning and never looked back.

I've had it happen a couple of times. My previous daily was a manual with pedal placement that many said made it impossible to heel/toe. It wasn't impossible, just difficult. To make it work you had to kind of turn your foot 60° or so counterclockwise and roll your foot over the top right corner of the brake pedal to get to the throttle.

Apparently I formed the habbit of holding my foot that way as a was braking.

Once I figured it out I was able to correct myself.

The BMS is looking for the battery to have a 70% charge. The truck will charge the battery up to that point.

This can be changed via ForScan. I've set mine to 95. My truck does not charge excessively, and all signs point towards the battery being very happy with this change.

From everything I've read AGM batteries are best to be charged to 100%.

2. Never partially charge AGM batteries

Yes. The first few minutes of the drive it's typically something about engine temp. Only once or twice have i seen it due to climate control. Battery charging has been the vast majority of times. That said I've only been watching it for about 3 weeks now.

Yes, I just looked at the Owner's Manual, it appears I don't have that specific screen (Auto-Start), I will monitor the Fuel Economy screen to see if it pops up, I was just curious to find the screen to know when the system is charging, since I don't have ASS I have lost one of the signs that the battery is going bad and more importantly being that it is disabled from factory (will) I experience the same issues down the road as others with ASS. I have had one occurrence of sleep mode from the App but was working on putting my rocker panel plugs in and truck did its wake-up communication thing about 4 times. I have yet to figure out what does it specifically.
Phone or FOB? without touching handle if I am near the truck, sounds like fuel pump prime and door locks clicking and perimeter lights flash.
I plan on doing some in-depth troubleshoot on this
I really wish Ford would have included a battery voltage gauge on dash, I have just ordered a Power-Point, Volt Gauge to use as a Ref: while driving just to get a good reference point on how exactly the BMS system works (charging wise) I have never owned or worked on this type of system, from what I have learned so far you can take all of the old school charging to 12.6 and throw it out the window, what is even more frustrating that the service manuals say nothing about state of charge except anything over 80% will increase risk of Battey sulfation and the BMS system will refresh charging phase. No mention of 70% or 75% at all, the only reference to that percentage is with this forum and FORscan. So, the manual is very vague on the operation as far as specs go

I am attaching the System Ops from the Manual.
I am wanting to know the Specific Voltage that trips:
1. ASS Off
2. Climate Control Off
3. Load Shed
4. Deep Sleep
If we can determine these specs, it would be easier to watch for as owners, than my ASS stopped working (Is it a sign my battery is failing?) which appears to be the most common
or my Inteligent access stopped working is a sign my battery is failing

I'm just a mechanic trying to find an easier solution than guess work on this system but need specific specs on its operation

2019 original battery. Daily driver approx 30 min trip each way .

I'm going to place the battery on charge when I'm home, but I foresee a new battery in my near future.

I'm on my 3rd battery! All failure have been within warranty. 2nd battery failed within a year on install. 3rd one has been fine so far.

I've had it happen a couple of times. My previous daily was a manual with pedal placement that many said made it impossible to heel/toe. It wasn't impossible, just difficult. To make it work you had to kind of turn your foot 60° or so counterclockwise and roll your foot over the top right corner of the brake pedal to get to the throttle.

I think a poster nailed it stating fords bms is centered around fuel economy, iirc correctly BMW led the way yrs back with stuff like electric water pumps and charge system algorithms that manage the alternator.

Update 2: after sitting over night the battery tested at 12.2 volts.

Hey in Denver since Thurs, omg cannot believe how much growth has occurred in the 1.5 yrs since leaving, was in ft Collins yesterday, I 25 jammed, took 287 back and building everywhere, Thurs night went to avs game, slow go with traffic. Seems growth in the area has accelerated recently, continuing to overwhelm the areas infrastructure. As to the bms has a few valuable features, I can always reconnect it when needed, but for now batt life takes priority.

Seems growth in the area has accelerated recently, continuing to overwhelm the areas infrastructure. As to the bms has a few valuable features, I can always reconnect it when needed, but for now batt life takes priority.
