I am sure glad we don't get that kind of hail here in Western Oregon. Pea size is about the largest.
It's rare here too Mark but we've had a few. Glad my truck was inside for this one a few years ago.

I'm surprised there isn't some pushback from insurance companies on making you, as the car owner, at least attempt to mitigate the losses in some way. there's many ways to offer your car some protection.

Some of our Canadian cities that see hail frequently, the dealers have installed large tents covering most of the lot so the new cars aren't damaged.

My son just got his 2020 Subaru WRX repaired due to hail damage. The total repair cost was $13,545.57. The shop had to replace the hood, roof, truck lid, 1 fender, roof antenna, both passenger door skins, fuel door, and right tail light. Some of the other dents were fixed the old fashion way and some were fixed by PDR. The repair list is 4 pages long. The repairs took a little over 3 weeks to complete.

Here are some photos of the hail damage.

The rear spoiler looks untouched. Or is that an illusion?

Oh, man, that sucks. Living in Texas, hail is very common. I have had damage from similar sized hail.

The last time we got caught with hail like this was 2019, and my wife's Lexus was outside. I honestly don't think it was more than $1000 to fix since it was all repairable through pointless dent repair.

Good luck!
Paint repair is pointless...!

I apparently got luck lucky. There were a half dozen dents on the hood and roof that came out after parking it in the sun sand applying ice. There is one left on the hood that didn't he come out that way. I tried getting pics but they didn't v really show up with the cell phone camera.

Just had a hail storm roll through, Ranger doesn't v for in the garage and I worked from home today. Anyone want to take a guess on damage amount? I still have temporary tags on it...

Mine started out at $6500 and since grown to $8900.00. I have a good number of pocks on the hood and roof, it broke my mirror on the driver side, and my cap is all pocked up...a lot of seals are being replaced too. Made me so sad...

The spoiler did take some damage that didn't show up in the photos I posted earlier.

Here in Missouri the cost of repairs must equal 80% of the total vehicle value before insurance companies will total a vehicle. And with Subaru's having a high resale value, the cost of repairs would have had to be at least $23,800 to get totaled.

The storm that hit my son's car was on March 31st. He was at work an hour west of me. The storm spilt and went around my house. There was so much hail damage from that storm in the Columbia, Mo area that my son couldn't get his car into the repair shop until May 8th and they finished the repairs yesterday May 25th.

For those that need repairs and still have payments, I will make one suggestion. Take your vehicle to a repair shop that works directly with your insurance company. That will make everything go much faster and smoother.

Well when you get 300+ days of sunshine you do spend a lot of time outdoors. Except for the 3 months of hell that is. 🥵
