Spent the weekend camping and towing this Rockwood Roo 233S. Towed great, 6,000 pound WDH. Took it up and down twisty mountain roads.

No issues going up and down and plenty of power to spare.

I did however put a dent in the tailgate while i disconnected the truck i didnt pull it far enough away whil opening it up. Ah well the first dent takes the pressure off.

If i can swing the cash i can use the clearview mirrors. The clip ons worked but i have lost one already.

Heh, I got a performance award much like yours doing the same thing - yikes! Good news is everything is pretty much thin aluminum and can largely be pulled back out by a low-cost dent puller like the hot glue kind from online retailers. Then a bit of touch up paint for any scuffs and now I am the only one who still notices it (every single time I look at it, but that's a good warning ;-) ).

Been putting in a bunch of towing over the last 6 months! Towing the Jeep on my flatbed, a bunch of loads of 60+ pallets, and picked up a few new toys recently too! A jon boat and a Ford 8N! Man this truck keeps impressing me on how well it tows! but I am definitely happy to have the brake controller!

No, I got my controller straight from Redarc, but it was before Ford released there approved controller. It is very similar to the updated Redarc, which is then rebranded by Ford as the "factory" controller, but half the cost! Works great! Mounted in the Lightforce switch panel between the 12V ports. Detailed well in the towing section on the forum here!

Thanks, but they are not the same. Ford kit has two modules. The Redarc and a Lumen module. Enables trailer brakes to communicate with ACC and emergency braking features.

Yes, agreed, I didn't say the same, just similar. And by similar, I meant in appearance and how the end user interacts. That is why mine is not the Ford approved controller, as it does not have the extra module. Mine was purchased and installed before that existed from Ford. The one today is better designed to interact with the additional modules within the truck!

That being said, I have had no issues with mine interacting with the truck, but if you have the option and ability, the Ford authorized one is the correct way to go!

One good thing about towing with a Ranger and traveling with another Ranger owner towing. If you get separated, you will see them again within two hours!! AT THE GAS STATION. Be safe out there all you campers and see you out on the road! Happy travels.

Towed my 21’ Nautic Star home for service today. Not exactly sure about the combined boat, motor, trailer, etc but suspect it’s about 5,000. Power to tow was not an issue. However experience some sway issues. May look into installation of the Hellwig Sway Bar kit as others have recommended.

Based on the lack of suspension squat, I would see if you have enough tongue weight.

Usually just my little utility trailer, but I did some heavy hauling once.

We'll just say this was an "unrecommended" towing combination according to U-Haul. As in I lied and told them it was a Bronco II. Because they wouldn't let me rent the trailer if they knew what I was actually towing.

You didn't really lie...should have re-phrased it..."yes, I need a trailer cause I need to tow a Bronco, to". See, it all depends on how you phrase "to, too, ll ", and where the comma goes. :like:

Haha, luckily, I wasn't going very far with it. I think the trailer and Bronco together were about 6600 pounds. Could definitely tell it was back there, but the Ranger did well towing it. The Ranger's 2.3 and 10 gears probably did much better than if it was reversed and the Bronco's 5.8 and only 4 gears was trying to tow the Ranger.

The Bronco's 351W broke a piston ring and is in need of a rebuild. Cylinder five had 0psi of compression. Well, now they all have 0psi because the engine is currently shredded in my buddy's shop.
