I've personally owned one of the 3.5 Ecoboost f150's and had the cam phasers start rattling at low mileage. Ford repaired it under warranty, but it came back later outside of warranty. Ford has gone through several redesigns of the phasers without much luck. It's a fairly common problem based...
Wasn't it mid 2022 before the cdf drums were officially redesigned for the 10r80 transmission? If that is the case, just make sure the transmission in the f150 has been upgraded/replaced or you may be replaying the transmission repair again.
And if the f150 is a 3.5 Ecoboost, I'd suggest...
The body design and interior of the new rangers are really nice. If Ford threw in a 10yr / 120k powertrain warranty, I'd go with the 2.7. Not a fan of the wet belt driven oil pump personally and that warranty would help me overlook that design aspect. That coverage would also provide backup...
10-15k guesstimate to get it done properly. Be sure to take it to a reputable shop of your choice for an estimate first. Some of the contract shops insurance companies push you to will shortcut repairs. Be prepared to fight for diminished value if they repair it.
Looks like it kept you safe...
Whipple had a nice one and last I checked they had them on clearance sale along with their Whipple tuner.
Not certain they are a forum sponsor, so I won't post the link. They have their charge cooler and tune for about half price currently while supplies last. Whipple is a Ford partner on the...
Video recordings can be deceiving as they can amplify certain sounds more than others. The tick I hear sounds valvetrain related based on the frequency of the tick.
That one is going to need some more in person diagnostics to pinpoint the source of the noise and to determine if it is normal...
If bubbles only at higher temperature, I'd suspect it is overfilled and aerating the fluid. Since transmission fluid expands with increased temperature, it could be a touch overfilled causing the bubbles only at the higher temperature.
Likely they are replacing the receiver hitch assembly as well as its part of the bumper sub assembly. Ran into that once on a former ford truck. Ford dealer body shop saw a scuff on the receiver hitch and estimated a replacement hitch. I asked why and they said that it was a potential...
Trouble codes could lead you to the source of the issue. Visually check all the turbo charge pipes and look for compromised hoses and wiring harnesses. Use a good live data code scanner to check for lift pump fuel pressure coming from fuel tank supplying high pressure fuel pump and check high...
Chances of a replacement bearing going bad in a short time is low but not impossible. How many miles do you have on the ranger? Have you checked the brakes? You mentioned independent shop replaced the bearing so maybe you are out of warranty period?
I was hopeful for the 2024 Ranger with the 2.7 v6 option, but the local dealer service manager took the wind out of my sails. He said they have had one in already for new cam phasers with less than 5k miles on it. They look awesome to me, but haven't driven one.
Historically, an ECM mapped for automatic transmission was easy to use for a manual swap. You just turned off the automatic transmission control by disabling a few options. Not sure it is that simple in the current generation ECM though. Haven't laid eyes on a newer generation directly. I...
On the electronics front, I'm curious how ford enabled the anti-stall and rev matching on the bronco implementation of the manual transmission. If someone had access to HPTuner files for both a manual trans bronco and an automatic ranger, you could compare and reverse engineer a solution. Not...
My former 2021 I had began shifting differently intermittently at around 19k miles and by 21k miles it was really slow to engage drive or reverse when shifting from park after sitting a few hours. I had also had two instances of the transmission doing what felt like shifting into neutral while...
I toyed with the thought of getting one a few years back. They were fun to drive. Insurance premium turned me off. It was 3 times the cost per year when compared to the cost for a 2021 Ranger Tremor for reference, same coverage. Your results may vary.
Unless they just want a Ranger Raptor, one could get a lot more truck in a F150 at that Ranger Raptor price point. Getting in and out of a F150 crew cab is much easier in a full size due to the door opening size. Plus, leg room is really nice in the F150. The 5.0 engine, available in the...
That's a paradigm shift from a Ram diesel to a midsize pickup. I suggest a real long test drive with all family in the truck before making that switch.
