See, a Mustang just won the xfinity race. Think I will go clean my truck so I look good going by a taco?
I wonder if any of the parts of that "Xfinity Stock Car" will actually even bolt to a stock Mustang? :giggle:

Developing such an emotional attachment to an inanimate object or a particular company’s product is weird to me. Apple is the same way. Tesla gets high customer satisfaction ratings despite the fact it’s consistently rated as one of the least reliable cars made. I view it as a customer base principally made up of followers vs. Independent thinkers.
Yeah, I agree with you. I’m a Ford consumer I guess you could say, because I’ve only ever bought new vehicles from Ford, but I also stoutly criticize their lack of quality control etc. they’re a company after all. All companies need to be kept on their toes.

I recently read an article where Mach E owners were receiving death threats from Tesla owners ?

unbelievable.

And yes, there’s brand loyalists that take it to the extreme with all brands/companies.

Toyota fan boys have always been like this. True there was a day LONG ago where their trucks were much better than most others but that day has past. Now they just can't handle the fact that the 3rd Gen Tacoma was the worst drivetrain Toyota produced. I owned one and know first hand how bad they are but if you go on TW they will never admit this. Sure some have but they get crucified for it.

Then when the Ranger came out they bashed it to no end especially the 4cyl turbo. Cant wait to see what all these fan boys are going to say when the next Gen Tacoma comes out and it has......A 4cyl turbo!
I just finished up an 800 mile off road trip with my 1st gen Tacoma with a group of seven other Toyota's. I love my Tacoma, original engine and transmission on 322800 miles and it keeps going.
But I also love my Ranger, and when I mentioned that I had purchased a new Ranger, nothing but crap talk. It's okay, my Ranger doesn't have the issues all the 3rd gen Tacoma's where complaining about.

My buddy drives an 2nd gen I4 Toyota, 2005-2015. We went out to Buttonwillow raceway. He was hauling one bike in the bed of his truck, and I had three in my enclosed trailer. I passed him like he was standing still, going UP The Grapevine. There's no way even the most powerful Tacoma is gonna keep up with the Ranger doing that. Especially with their slushbox 5 or 6 speed.

I'm sure the Tacoma is a fine truck. Why would I see the EVERYWHERE if they weren't. But their owners (and by extension 4Runner owners) are whackjobs FAR too often.
To be fair, the 2nd gen Tacoma with the 4 banger was a complete turd in the power department, and comparing it to the new Ranger is like comparing apples to.. a complete turd. The 4.0 did not have that problem, but it was a gas hog.

I found one of those articles HERE

Looks like some fanbois got themselves a Tesla and simply can't allow, much less envision, a similar vehicle to be perceived as better in any way, shape, or form.

Why are Tacoma owners like “this?”
I’m truck shopping, and as part of it, I’m reading forums and Facebook groups for trucks I like. It seems that Tacoma owners simply cannot compliment or acknowledge that a non-Toyota truck is as good as their beloved Tacoma. Their blinders are absolutely ridiculous.
When I see folks posting in the Tacoma Facebook groups that they’ve bought a Chevy/Ford/Ram, it only takes a second before the “good luck with your new piece of crap truck”, “you’ll be back; those trucks are total crap”, “you’re an idiot for leaving the Tacoma” etc.
It’s like they take it so personally that someone dares to buy a non-Tacoma truck. Yet if someone talks about weak & rusty frames (Toyota is still replacing rusted out frames), drum brakes, poor shifting transmissions, no front locker, a rear locker that only works in 4LO, etc. , those guys are jumped on by the fanboys, often times with childish & personal attacks.
I’ve always gone with the mantra of “Drive what you like; Like what you drive.” I just don’t get the childish hostility these guys have against anyone who dares question the Tacoma. It’s like a cult of “brainwashed” owners.
And yes, I’ve had a Tacoma before. It was nice, but far from perfect.
Your thoughts?
I had a 2016 Tacoma FX 4 and got rid of it within a few months. Toyota ruined them by changing the engine. Give it gas and everything revs up and it doesn't go anywhere. It was just horrible. Maybe not quite the perfect explanation but I think those that have experienced Tacomas know what I mean.
I shopped for my ranger for a week. I was lot drunk. These small dealerships (three of them) don't give you a break for nothing so I decided to go to Toyota and lease a Tacoma and then finance it after two years for the residual value. When I got there my truck was on the lot. I told the sales guy to Bring the Ranger and the Tacoma upfront. I took each one for a test drive for about 30 minutes without a salesman and the Ranger blew that Tacoma away. The only thing I disliked about the Ranger was the bounciness and BilStein 5100s took care of that. They tried to talk me into the Ranger and I knew right away it was because nobody goes to a Toyota dealer looking for a Ford. I walked out of that dealership with my ranger that had 7000 miles on it for $27,000 out the door. Even the finance guy shook his head saying he would have never signed that deal as a manager. 7000 miles later I have no regrets.

I've found there are fan-boys all around in any hobby. The second time I went out with a group of Rangers for some trail driving, a group of Tacos came by the trailhead where we were airing down and they all waved, were polite. No problems! I think you'll see this with any of the brands. But we all know Ford is the best.

stuff
I had a 2019 trd offroad. Was slow. But I could deal if I used it's sport mode and ect button. But then the hip pain started from the bad seating. It was great off road the few places i took it where I have had my xterra many times. I ended up thinking I needed a full size so went titan. Nice truck. Just too big and I didn't need all that. Sold to carvana and made out. Used some of that money to buy my 21 ranger fx4 and love it so far. They get better mpgs than Tacoma. Are more comfortable. Have way more power. Seems easier to drive. Ranger is bouncier off road but I've learned to enjoy that. As far as quality, Toyotas massive fuel pump recall last year scared me. Sure, any make has issues, but new trucks dying at 3000 miles due to plastic pump impellers. And then Toyota offering to put me in a Corolla for three months till parts came in. No thanks. That's not Toyota quality to me. Might as well buy something I enjoy driving, that doesn't casue me hip pain after 2 hours. Tacoma's are very over rated. I had one. They are not all that.

Why do you see that kind of behavior? Probably because there's a large preponderance of humans among their customers, and people often act like jerks.

A weird mix of Japophile and ignorant redneck. Believe it or not. I joke about it, but I see soooooo many camo seat covers in Tacoma’s (and yes, even RAV4’s I shit you not). It’s a perceived non-U.S. reliability factor. Many automatically assume since there’s a Toyota logo (they conjure up images of Japan) it’s automatically bullet proof. We have social justice warriors, woke-tards, virtue signalers, hardcore antifa and right wing Nazi’s - there needs to be a classification for Toyota cultists. They’re a weird hybrid of soy boy, hipster and redneck all rolled into one. Usually oblivious to a vehicle’s limitations, towing-payload capacity (remember how powerful that logo is on the front).

A very unusual and weird consumer demographic. If I was into marketing I would diligently study them.

Perceived reliability-durability > power, driving dynamics and fuel economy.
For some reason I read this like it was a poem.
