What oil will you be running after your 1st oil change?

Mobil 1 Synthetic after I run out of points. I bought 2 vehicles this year and have 84000 points. That “should be” 3 oil changes in the Ranger I hope. My Mustang takes 10qts, so it’ll be Mobil 1 on the second change.

At 5k mile OCI, I am the least worried about using synthetic blends instead of full synthetics because the nature of the turbocharged DI engine and the blowby factor. In general it has been a policy of mine to cut the recommended OCI by half; or, back in the old days, use the "severe use" OCI, and, knock-on-wood, never had a critical engine issue (not counting the cheap piston rings and panther-piss 0w20 that came in my subaru).

So, for me it would be synth blend Motorcraft at 5k OCI or regular dinosaur oil at 3k OCI

Yes, lots on line as well as I have had quite a few BMW and Porsche owners switch from Mobil 1 to Amsoil due to lack of protection. Seizing bearings etc.

Porsche has been using Mobil 1 as factory fill since somewhere around 1992. I have never heard of an oil related failure caused by Mobil 1. Seized bearings? Really?

I will be running Amsoil synthetic oil. I have run it in everything I own including all small engines for over 20 years. I run their oil filters as well and only need to change my oil every 15k -25k or once a year (some of their filters are rated for 25k and some 15k). Saves me lots of time. Amazing customer service from them as well.

I dropped the oil off to my customer and he had type motors pulled apart and showed me carnage.

Thanks to a member who gave the heads up, I will be using Rotella 5w-30 full synthetic. On sale, with Roketen discount, and a Advanced Auto first timer discount, paid $46 including tax for 3 - 5 qt jugs, 4 qts, and 2 motorcraft oil filters. Not sure of intervals yet, only at 2500 miles, easy driving. Just saw Rotella has a 300,000 mile warrantee, but haven't read details yet.

I agree. I have some retail accounts as well that sell it. The public can also get there own account and buy it at 5% above cost. Been using it for 10+ years myself as well. ?

And the carnage was caused by Mobil 1? Sorry, just not believing that one. Not saying Amsoil is a bad product but neither is Mobil 1.

I’m thinking the owner of the cars wasn’t using the right oil for the application. Apparently the cars needed a higher ppm of zinc for those specific motors. The motors didn’t go quickly. It was the lack of protection over time. The scaring he showed was quite severe.

Just did my first oil change on 08/14. After much research, I went ahead and went with full synthetic oil. I asked for Shell Rotella Full Synthetic 5W30, but my Ford dealership didn't carry it. They carry Shell Rotella for the Ford Diesel Engine trucks, but not regular gas vehicles. So I asked for Motorcraft Full Synthetic, which is still a superior oil; I found out that Conoco-Phillips makes that oil for Motorcraft.
I had 42,000 points for getting the Ford Pass, the dealer redeemed 12,874 of those points, and I earned 598 for the service visit.
