I can attest to this statement. I originally bout my tuner for a Ford Explorer, when I traded the Explorer for my Ranger I sent my Tuner back to Livernois with documentation showing the sale of the Explorer and the purchase of the Ranger. Livernois reprogramed my Tuner and provided me with the Ranger tunes I requested, all it cost me was shipping both ways! I am a Livernois customer for life! :)

That's pretty awesome service. I'm slowly leaning to make the purchase.

How easy is it to switch between tunes?

Does it take 10 minutes to load a different tune or are the tunes essentially like flipping a switch from one to the other?

Just updated my tune so I decided to time it, right at 7 minutes to switch.

Glad to hear we were able to get that taken care of for you and thanks for the continued support!

We have done some recent Cal file / Full file write type of updates that can speed up the process of loading / switching tunes. So it would write only the needed segments instead of the full file like your stock tune would. If anyone's wanting to get the new cal write updates it will require us to reset your device and save the stock cal read again, so you'd need to put it back to stock and let us know you want to update it to the cal file version. But this would usually allow you to load / switch tunes in just a couple minutes on average except stock which still writes a full 95 blocks.

Will this be the standard setup for new units going forward?

Yes any Ranger tuner reads that have come in roughly the week of May 20th have been set up this way already. But clients that have had the tuner already in use for a while we'll need to reset and re-read the vehicle to get the new format applied.

These said things are revert back to stock and clear memory in the com with the FACTORY scan tool. Aftermarket scan tools wont do the trick.

So what you are saying is we need a factory scan tool? :inspect:

Does the calibrator have to remain plugged in all the time, or can you unplug it once the desired tune is uploaded?

Only needs to be plugged in while flashing tunes or monitoring stats.

I only plug mine in when flashing but others like the customizable datalogging/visual display feature.

So I have an update with the towing tune. It is Flex from 87 to 93 octane. Comparing to the high octane performance tune I like it a lot better. No it doesn't have as much power as you would get with the performance tune but you get better low-end power performance. The biggest thing I noticed especially with being here in the mountains of Colorado is that on a steep hill it will hold a lower gear better than both stock and performance tune. For me that's big since the less hunting of gears the better fuel mileage I'm going to get. I did a trip over 300 miles today that had some pretty good grades and I had both wind at my back and from the front. For my average mpg I ended up getting about 27. What all do I have done to my truck? Simple I have the old man emu lift kit with Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 tires at size 265 70 17. I also recently added at the FX4 front skid plate and don't have any air deflectors in front of my tires. Just from that I can say I'm impressed. Livernois did a great job on this!!!
How did you get the tow tune?

I called Livernois today and confirmed I should get my tunes in the late afternoon. When I spoke to the gentleman at Livernois, he said that all available tunes for the Ranger would be sent to me. I never received an email saying they were available, I just plugged the tuner into the computer this evening and the software updated it with the following:

Performance 87-89
Performance 91-93

No towing tune.

I did load the 91-93 tune and drove it around for awhile so it could relearn. I mashed the metal a few times and am thoroughly impressed with the power.........Not just noticeable, but a very significant improvement..........it just keeps pulling hard. Under full throttle the transmission hits like the kitted TH400 in my old Chevelle 427. Under light throttle it shifts a little firm, but that's good for me personally.

I have a 400 mile road trip tomorrow over the mountain passes and back from Eastern Washington. Everything should balance out nicely by the time I get back.

It's funny.....I get the same feeling driving this thing with the tune as when I spent an entire weekend installing a new carb and ported and polished heads on a big block. I think the Ranger had a higher percentage gain in power and all I did was hook a damned calculator up to it....Impressive.

I would contact them again, the town tune is separate and you don't want to tow with a performance tune.

Thank you for your order!

Glad to hear you've been enjoying the tune. I would be happy to help get that towing tune set up for you to download, I'll just need to get your info. So feel free to shoot us a PM or give us a call and I'll look into that for you asap. Thanks again for your business and I hope you have a great day!

so what happens to the trailer tow button and sport mode after loading a performance tune? do they still change things or do they just not work anymore?
