Looks a little “dicey “.
Glad you made it safe and sound.

We need to do this on a regular bases. Taken today. Its not that big a deal. It does snow here so you get used to it and run snow tires.. Seems we have went over 150" this season.

This summer. Towed our 1988 18 ft Prowler Lynx we've had since 2003. 4100 GVWR with some gear in the bed. I don't know if the trailer is actually loaded to max, I kind of doubt it. Kept to 60 mph it tows effortlessly honestly. 4th of July Pass in North Idaho at 60 mph was no problem. Tekonsha P3 works amazing! We head up a local freestone river on USFS land about 70 miles from home, camp for free and have fly fishing, mountain biking and quiet!

Made a mad dash trip to camp yesterday in questionable weather. In good weather its a hour drive. Did this to move an implement out there and more important, returned with our 6x6 which we plow with at home. Snowed off n on all day in very cool temps and we spent the day at camp and dragged those trails. Yes, it snows here much.

I'm surprised that you're not using an enclosed trailer. Do they put salt where you are or only sand/gravel?

Traveling up here like you are, with an open trailer, would rust out my ATV within a year.

I have a 2025 XLT with the 2.7L. I tow a 21', 6,000 Lb camper. The 2.7 is a GREAT option for towing. 400 lb ft of tq makes a clear difference over my previous 2019. Love this truck!
How about the mileage running empty? Much difference? Assuming the same driving habits.

Towing I get 13-14 mpg.

Not towing, I get 22. All around average mpg. I have not taken it on the highway for a longer trip yet so I don't know the highway mpgs.

I will admit that I drive it very conservative and rarely speed or jack rabbit start. The few times I have, it certainly reflects the mpg.

Doesn't sound much different than the 2.3 then. More grunt for towing is nice. Sounds like a nice all around drivetrain.

No longer driveable, seems the unfortunate owner was having a difficult time lighting the stove and then poof. I could have posted this in the Darwin thread but sometimes it's just bad luck, when I lived in Pagosa Springs in an upscale development there was a 2nd home for a guy from LA who died crashing his plane, and the home had a guest house where the wife was getting it ready for visitors , smelled propane and stayed inside using the cell phone to call for repairs and supposedly that somehow triggered a gas explosion and perished. then the main house sat vacant for a year - it was southwestern style with a flat roof, the snowfall that yr (>130") caused the roof to leak and ultimately the place need over $500k in repairs.

I might trade my 5g in for a Tremor that is rumored to come out next year :) 2.7 plus some offroad goodies but not reduction in payload/towing like the ranger raptor
