I’m still playing with the set up, but it tows wonderful. I used to tow with a Lariat F-150 3.5 EB. The payload is about 100lbs less in the Ranger. It feels similar in terms of stability, the 3.5 had more get up and go, but the Ranger crushed a huge hill with about 1500’ of elevation gain at around 6000’ MSL. It didn’t drop below 8th gear and feels like plenty of power is always available.

I have a tailgate dampener. I think it’s the dampener that makes all the difference.

The spring pack is pretty legit. I don’t porpoise over bumps that my F-150 did with the same camper which really surprised me.

FYI, I traded a 19 Tacoma TRD in after the first time towing this camper. Scariest day of my life. That’s a whole other story.

Apex Nano 208BH
Camper Dry: 3998
Hitch Dry: 517
Loaded: 5000/600-640 (depends)
RedArc Brake Controller
WDH w/ Anti-Sway
I tow about 65MPH max.
I live in the Rockies does great on climbs and descents.
Mileage is around 11-12 MPG.
FP Tune
Did you tow with the stock tune or just with the FP tune on it? Curious how much of that extra torque you feel, main reason I want the FP tune is actually for that towing TQ.

Being in Vegas, I suspect I might need a Radiator upgrade but I am sure Ford put plenty of safety margins in the tune. I already use 91 anyway.

My wife wants something about that size, we also have a Tremor. Currently have a Geo Pro 19BH but maybe in a year or two we will upgrade. Hopeful that I wont need a bigger truck too.

I have not towed without the FP tune. I got it specifically for towing, but I suspect it wouldn’t have any problems without it. I’ll give it a try in a few weeks and report back. My temps are normal around 200ish at all times so far. I like those Geo Pros, nice rigs, we’ll designed.

No pressure on trying without the tune, I switched to 285/70/17 and can feel them a bit, not enough to regret them or anything like that but I would love that tune when I am towing in particular.

Only downside with the Geo Pro is that they dont come in tandem axles, Not sure if Rockwood will do it since they might try to push people into the larger Mini Lite. Ibex trailers caught my eye but my wife wants the next one to be about your size trailer.

Picked up this new toy. Going to haul it into the Collegiate Peaks area this weekend and see how she camps.

There's one by me over here in Avondale. We saw this exact one there and it's really nice and would be great for overlanding. A little pricey but it looks to be built really well compared to some of the cheap junk they're putting out there now.

We decided to wait a little while longer before getting a TT and now with gas prices soaring I'm kind glad we did. Might even be able to get some good deals on used ones soon when people realize they're paying a fortune for theirs to sit in storage while still paying on their loan.

Yeah, the Mesa Tom's had I think 2 in stock but they had this little ROG unit that I wish I could get lol. Our Geo Pro 19BH is very much a road trailer playing off-road (knew that going in) but I appreciate the extra ground clearance for some steep driveways.

ROG square drop and the Hero Ranger were two of my fav. Would compliment the travel trailer but I need to find a way to sell A LOT more computers to afford them haha

That's my biggest worry right now. I hope by the time I go to sell the one i ahve the market is climbing again. (I bought a 2015 Rockwood roo 233s in October. and have 5 trips booked for this summer already. Fortunately most are close to home weekend getaways so I will only burn a few gallons of $5.00 per gallon gas. on each trip. When you live in the mountains already you just slide around for a scene change and to hang out with friends.

Yeah, Dave...they ain't cheap. This is the culmination of a 10 year plan for the Princess and I. We had been working towards getting an Airstream thinking that was the way to go as we got older. But realized we still like going off-grid and campgrounds aren't our thing yet. We looked at a few different brands similar to this, but settled on the OBi in the end.

I like the ROG a lot, and OBi makes a thing called the Conquerer that is really cool. But alas, the Princess requires a little more "comfort" shall we say.

haha yeah I hear ya there!! We started with a NoBo 10.6, fully loaded and loved it, only MILD trails with it but my wife really wanted more comfort once she learned how much fun this was.....and she likes campgrounds so we got the Geo Pro 19BH. I just miss the smaller units, I can't really take the 19BH on trails. The dad trip coming up I am going to just try to sleep in the Ranger's bed but our NoBo 10.6 would have been so much more comfy.

Spent the early part of the week out in the North Dakota badlands biking and hiking. Roads were muddy from the previous day's rain/sleet/snow. Had to engage 4H to make it up some of the hills with that simultaneously very sticky and very slippery clay mud. The rig got some mud caking on the way to camp because of it.

Taking the ATV back to the dealer for service. First time towing. Two mountain passes. Stopped often to check connections and straps. 2hrs and 25 min. one way, quiet trip. Not sure how much the Ranger pulled as it was a borrowed trailer. Very satisfied with the Ranger.

Your radiator should be good, but in that heat, you would benefit from a larger intercooler out front to keep your air intake temps down. No tune required for that upgrade either. Same scenario on ford safety margins. The higher the intake air temp is, the more spark timing is pulled and the more power loss.

Thanks for the reassurance. I figured with the amount of work, and both being in the same place I should probably do both at the same time....which makes it quite expensive. We'll see what kind of year I have work wise.
