Did you tow with the stock tune or just with the FP tune on it? Curious how much of that extra torque you feel, main reason I want the FP tune is actually for that towing TQ.![]()
I’m still playing with the set up, but it tows wonderful. I used to tow with a Lariat F-150 3.5 EB. The payload is about 100lbs less in the Ranger. It feels similar in terms of stability, the 3.5 had more get up and go, but the Ranger crushed a huge hill with about 1500’ of elevation gain at around 6000’ MSL. It didn’t drop below 8th gear and feels like plenty of power is always available.
I have a tailgate dampener. I think it’s the dampener that makes all the difference.
The spring pack is pretty legit. I don’t porpoise over bumps that my F-150 did with the same camper which really surprised me.
FYI, I traded a 19 Tacoma TRD in after the first time towing this camper. Scariest day of my life. That’s a whole other story.

I tow about 65MPH max.
I live in the Rockies does great on climbs and descents.
Mileage is around 11-12 MPG.
FP Tune
Being in Vegas, I suspect I might need a Radiator upgrade but I am sure Ford put plenty of safety margins in the tune. I already use 91 anyway.
My wife wants something about that size, we also have a Tremor. Currently have a Geo Pro 19BH but maybe in a year or two we will upgrade. Hopeful that I wont need a bigger truck too.
