We finally put the camper and other trailers away yesterday. Looks like the snow might stick around. Bottom pic is on the way to storage.

Well no its not. We do get snow here,,, lots more than Buffalo NY does.

Nope note even close Houghton MI gets on average 75 inches of snow a year.

30-year snowfall averages at Houghton Lake, 1991 to 2020
Days InchesCentimetres
54.1Year74.7189.7

Syracuse NY gets 128 inches, Buffalo gets 95 inches.

The trick is once the stupid cold weather hits the snow fall stops, you are just blowing around what you already have. once buffalo gets to mid janurary it stops gettting big storms as lake erie has frozen. lake ontario doesn't freeze and pounds syracuse all winter long.

Lake michigan also doesn't freeze, but gets hit with artic cold air so nothing melts until march.

by christmas most of buffalo's snow will be gone too.

Towed a uhaul 5x8 trailer from Maine to Utah last month. First time towing with the ranger. It was a pretty light load, maybe 500lbs in the trailer, another 400lbs in the bed. Could barley notice the trailer back there most of the time, but of course I ran into a massive headwind going across Kansas. Steady 30mph winds and I was getting 10mpg at 65mph. I had been getting about 17mpg going across the eastern states, but Kansas was absolutely brutal. Up over Rabbit Ears pass into Steamboat CO I hit a little snow. Nothing crazy but there was about 6 inches of unplowed snow at the summit. It was mostly packed from traffic and in 4hi I never spun a tire even with the stock duellers (my snow tires live in Utah so I didn't have them on yet). All in all it was a successful trip, even with the terrible milage for most of the middle section. The truck worked hard to pull that trailer through the wind so I treated it to an early oil change at 3500 when I got to Salt Lake. Normally I go to about 4500.

Not to one-up your snowfall totals, but we have recieved over 100 inches of snow so far this season in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Average annual snowfall is 538 inches. I'm really hoping we get close to 600 this year since the past few years have been more like 450. We need the water and I want to post some pics of a buried ranger!

We average over 200" here. We reside here because of high normal snow fall. The BIG lake freezes over about every 10 years. Ya, we get snow.

I've been up cottonwood canyon a few times! Our friends in west Yellowstone MT see 400" something per year of snow. I checked its moisture content and it had 5" of water in it where as our 200+ has 6+ or water in it. Who gets more snow?

Yeah out here an inch of water converts to about 10-15 inches of snow in typical conditions. Back in Maine an inch of water was good for maybe 8 inches. In Colorado we used to get super light 3.5% density stuff. An inch of water could yield up to 18 inches! You could clear your driveway with a leafblower!

We’ve moved on to a bigger trailer, a Grand Design Imagine XLS 23LDE. I did the math six ways from Sunday ahead of time and this is the largest I felt comfortable with based on my 1674 payload (4x2). It tows surprisingly well and I never felt that it was unsafe even at highway speeds being passed by semis. We’re using a Husky Centerline TS WDH with the 800-1200 bars. Also my toolbox is aluminum that I only use to store the hitch and plastic blocks for the camper, so its impact is negligible
