I don't even think you need to go as far as the PPE pan. The ONLY reason I bought one is that I service my fluid on a regular basis and the drain plug makes it a lot easier. Prior to the pan, I was still able to vacuum out enough fluid (~3-4 quarts) that I was satisfied in getting old fluid/contaminents out and new fluid in.

I personally think Ford's 150k mile recommendation is just flat out BS. I don't care that ULV is a stout fluid, and I don't care that the filter is actually a nice piece. I want the contaminents that are floating around in the fluid OUT and the additive pack refreshed on a regular basis.

I pumped out almost 7 quarts with a DC oil evacuator pump...

Yea, the little tube I made to do my sucking wasn't quite long enough I don't think. I could have done it better, and if I had it to do again I'd change it a bit and could probably get more...but now, drain plug :) no more sucking!

Prior to owning my ranger I owned a Elantra. My local dealer told me that Hyundai is putting in brand new short blocks at no cost to the costumer even out of warranty because the engines are known to fail. Not sure why ford can’t do the same with these transmissions….

Ford most often values that over customer service. Yep. 100% Ford guy just said that. Truth is truth.

Sadly that is the standard policy in 99.9999999999% of corporate America. Nothing matters, NOTHING matters except the next goddamn quarterly earnings report.

Man I need to retire.

What's worse is that. these billion dollar companies are outsourcing everything overseas too. I've been having problems trying to transfer everything from our old phones to the new ones. When I called Verizon I always get someone in another country who I can't understand and they give me the wrong info. I gave up last night and called back first thing this morning hoping with the time difference I'd get someone local which I did. Almost 4 hours on the phone yesterday and I got nowhere and in 20 minutes this morning I now (hopefully) have all the info I need. I told him what I went through yesterday and what she told me to do and he was like"wow, that's all wrong". My point was stop outsourcing everything and keep the money here! But you're right they don't care about anything but the bottom line and pleasing their shareholders. :curse:

My employer has outsourced all IT support to India. It is a constant running joke here as we tell each other about our most recent IT "customer service."

So beyond annoying.

Because Hyundai knows that they will lose any class action suit when their cheaply made engines fail and that is more costly than folding their tent and replacing engines, whereas the extent of the 1080R tranny issues don't appear as this point to be as widespread. Interesting and not good that another much hailed Detroit attempt to build a better mousetrap seemingly comes up a bit short when compared to folks like ZF

Because Hyundai wants its customers to come back. Ford knows if we don't someone else will. It's all about staying hungry. Ford isn't.

Earlier this year I got a nice Chuckle when the local tech installing my ATT fiber optic internet was getting frustrated because he had to call tech support...in India. I almost said how does it feel a$$hole, but I just swallowed hard and walked away with a big smile!
