For those that have had the transmission replaced - Once all the parts were in and you dropped the truck off, how long did it take for install? Didn’t think anything of it when I picked the truck up, but I dropped off around 8am and got a call before 2pm that it was ready. I know these aren’t big trucks and the tech is experienced, but less than 6 hours with a 1 hour lunch break seems very fast.
8k on the new transmission and it’s finally going back in this week after all the previous issues came back 6k ago.
When they actually got the transmission, 4 hours....The time they had my truck while they got a new transmission, 3½ weeks,=.
There is so little obstructing the transmission it doesnt take much to get it out/in.

Most dealers can't change oil that fast...I'd ask for video proof...

I had a friend that worked for Ford. He was the transmission mechanic. He could swap out 4 or 5 trans a day, and that was in the 90s. Of course, they have the right tools and equipment to do it quickly.

Follow up question now that the truck has been back at the dealer - Has anybody taken any steps beyond the dealership to get things like this resolved? Got charged $175 for them to test drive it, and they claim it shifts perfectly. Yesterday I coasted around a corner then hit the gas, but it wouldn’t go into gear and I almost got hit. That paired with some clunking and the whole trucking lurching when I put it into park tells me it’s not running perfect.

Can you post a copy of the repair order stating what they did?

I'd record your test drives then hit them with test drive refund demand....

Your experience mirrors mine. Nothing found, no codes... pushed out the door. I didn't have to pay as I only had 18K miles on the truck and still under warranty. That was 3.5 - 4 years ago. The truck literally sat for over a year while I decided what to do.

As a last ditch effort, A added a FitzStick, and replaced the fluid (sucked it out via the FitzStick, and added a bottle of LubeGard Platinum. (Thank you and again guys on this forum who urged me to go this route.)

The change was immediate and profound. I would not have believed it possible if I had not experienced it. I have driven 7K miles since and changed the fluid 2 more times to get me to a 90% clean fluid level, adding LubeGard Platinum each time.

Silky smooth shifts. I occasionally still here a shift solenoid, but it is behaving like it did when it was new.

No guarantees, but all you have to lose is ~$400 to find out.

One last thing. If what I did had not worked out, the truck was going to be sold. I was at "the straw that broke the camels back" point in time.

Best of luck to you.

I just got off the phone with Ford Customer Service and they gave me a 3 year ESP for the powertrain and electric system. Factory warranty ends next month and I've gone through one transmission rebuild last year and a transmission replacement last month.

Zero cost for that? I went back and forth with the dealer and got the diagnostic charge dropped and the stupid truck has ran smooth all day since I picked it up. Might be time to upgrade and trade it in anyways

Zero cost. $100 deductible on warranty work. This was directly from Ford, not through the dealership. Below is the customer service number I was given. I originally wanted them to do a buy back, but I'm not eligible I according to my state laws.

Update* 03/02 Was a burnt clutch at 30k miles with original transmission fluid. Notes say the fluid was black but at level. Seems to be an issue with this transmission.

Started at 30,000 miles. I was at a light and the truck wouldn't accelerate.

Now at 31,000 the gears are all over the place the longer I drive it.

Yesterday, it was shifting from 1st to 5th and at one point locked in 7th gear. Major thump when back to 1st at a stop.

Finally have an appointment for Monday at the dealer. I got the extended warranty as well. Love the truck but hopefully this doesn't continue without a real fix. ?

I need something reliable and don't want to trade it in for a Toyota. I want to buy M'erican ??
Geez, I wonder how much it would cost to convert to a 6spd Manual w/ 4wd?

its a shame. customers should not get such a runaround esp those with basically new trucks.
[/QUOTE]
The runaround stated sounds like Mary Barra at GM- a total goat rope.
