Has anyone tried 16x8 ET20 wheels with big tires?

I was thinking 16x8 ET20's with 255-85-16s
or
17x8ish ET10-20 with 255-80-17s

Tall and skinny. 16s would just be easier to find in ET20. Not a huge fan of the whole 2in out of fender stickout ET0 has on 8+in wide wheels.

As mine sits:

295/55/20 Nitto Terra Grappler
20x9 Fuel Tactic D678 +0 offset
3.5” Rough Country Lift

Absolutely no rubbing at any time after minor trimming to include partial removal of the crash bar (approximately 50-55%).

My truck, riding on:
285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
17x8.5 - Icon Alloys Six Speed w/ +25 offset (“Ranger spec’d”)
Icon Stage 2 kit w/ 2.5” level and billet UCA

There was some pretty bad rubbing on the front intrusion beams, so my setup includes a Fabtech offset intrusion beam kit and air dam delete (or trim if I weren’t so lazy) as well.

Couple of these were pre-alignment, so there’s some noticeable positive camber there.

I am thinking that the biggest I can go for winter tires on standard fitment is 275/65R18. Can anyone shoot this down or confirm this opinion for me?

I will leave the stock "test-drive tires" on the standard rims until I wear them out, and switch out for winter tires w/rims for Dec-Feb here in the mountains. (Does anybody have any 18" "take-off" rims for sale out there? Um, I am also looking for used A/T-M/S off-road tires. I am in New Mexico.)

Check out my posts (#5 and #10) in the following thread:https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/275-65-18-ko2-fitment.4021/

I've got a set of BFG's (275/65R18) on my otherwise stock rig right now. The clearance in the front, by the intrusion beams, is verrrry tight but I have so far had no rubbing. At all, anywhere. I do think that a wheel with less than the stock +55mm offset would cause rubbing without modified crash bars and/or a lift.

Yes, I am babying this thing a bit and I have a set of Fabtech modified crash bars and a leveling kit on their way to me...

I had a set of Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrain A/T's in LT275/65R18 installed at Discount Tire today and they do indeed fit. There are also at least one or two other members that have confirmed fitment of the 275/65R18 size here. They fit tight to the knuckle but they seem to be safely do-able. I am also running at Daystar 2 inch front leveling kit. Other than that the truck is all stock, no spacers.

Thanks for the update! That is great to hear. Now I can pull the trigger on some 265/70/17 STT pros. I don't have the FX4 but from my research the height is the same between FX4 and non FX4
I beleieve the fx4 is half inch taller im not a hundred peecent sure on that one though

What wheels and offset is that? Did you have to mod or trim anything to get them to fit?
Fuel shok 17x10 -18
Caster adjustment to move the wheel forward

some rubbing in full lock but not to much to require trimming

Anybody try 255/75/17 stock? BFG KO2 comes in that size in a C-range (better for ride and MPG). Sounds like it’s be cutting it close.
I'm also interested in this!

Was just informed my local dealership can’t realign my ranger due to tire size. I am running a 3in level with 275/65/r18. Has anyone else had this problem?
