SYNC update

My truck looks like it recently did an update. SYNC 3, Version 3.4. Build 22251.

Noticed a few things.

1) When I switch from the radio to XM Satellite, rather than, going to a channel, it displays the SIM number. Then need to select a channel. I know not a huge issue, but a difference.

2) This one is the on that has me most upset. I have a USB drive that I have a lot of songs on. Prior to this update, I could use the voice control to select a song. Now it just talks back to me saying that it is updating commands.

Anyone have some insight on this? I have tried disconnection the battery to "reset" it, but to no avail.

Since you already tried the battery reset without success, I would recommend to try a Master Reset. This will take you back to default settings but retain the updated software. You will need to set up everything again but it’s worth a shot.

Before I did anything drastic, I would just wait a day. I've had my music want to re-scan, or rebuild the song list or whatever.

I've also had my USB stick get corrupted a few times and I have to reformat and reload the data. I'm trying right now to get one reformatted, but it looks to be too corrupted.

Seems the most reliable method for me is to use an old Ipod touch gen 2, but it comes with it's own quirks.

My experience with it is that when the usb gets corrupted it won't be able to connect to sync. Seems the sync system will periodically dork up the USB... It's happened 3 times to me, and the last time It complete bricked my USB stick. I have the same version as you.

But, to the other guys comment, you can try the master reset if you've waited for it to rebuild the list and it still won't work. I doubt that will help with your particular problem, but its worth a shot. I don't use voice commands to pick a song so can't really talk to that.

So, I was chatting online with FORD regarding this. Tried all the quirky things to reset things. Open the door, lock it while open, run around the truck, put one foot in and one hand on blue at the same time, etc. No bueno. I think I'll just bring it to the dealership and have them fix the friggin' thing.

So get this. Nothing has worked at all. This thing is all messed up. After I've paired my phone and shut the truck off, it unpairs the phone. It's so bizarre. Any ideas?

Should I do another Master Reset? Battery disconnect? I'm at a complete loss.

Mine did the same thing, but the "updating commands" went away after a day.

Sorry to hear. This is why I haven't updated my Sync in like forever. The old adage, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Hope it gets resolved soon.

yes, I'd expect it to rebuild its database which takes time proportional to the number of entries and the speed of the drive

Any other ideas? I'm at a loss. Since the update, I have done a master reset and disconnected the battery twice. Still, Ford Pass won't work, phones unpair after the truck is turned off and the voice commands are still weird.

The dealer f#(ked mine up so bad with that update, they somehow got it stuck in Navigator mode, it's completely useless, now I have to wait for the APIM module to come in, it's already been a few weeks, I hope it's not on back order.
