I need to add another stall onto my garage. Like you, I'm retired and have to many toys.

The battery maintainers are a MUST. I just replaced the batteries in 2000 F250 last week. They were 13 years old, still cranked the engine over easily. I only put around 6000 miles on it over those 13 years, so the batteries were probably OK. But the age had me a bit concerned.
I use Deltran Battery Tenders on literally everything. On 2 muscle cars, I changed the batteries out at 9 & 10 years old....pushing my confidence level. Nothing is worse than hoping on the tractor or getting in a vehicle and it won't start due to a dead battery.

I did the update successfully, but once again I found no difference in the actual Sync functionality. There are no added features at all and booting up the system at start up takes the same length of time. It would be nice if there was a release note attached to the download so that we knew what problems were supposed to be fixed so we could decide if it was worth the risk (which there is) to our functioning Sync systems when we update.

Did the sync update yesterday and it went smoothly and registered correctly on my system: 3.4.22200  Thought everything was OK but today the problems started...my galaxy would not permanently pair to it. The phone would constantly pair then unpair and could not get it to work properly :frown:

Finally, I called Ford support, and it took about 2.5 hours for them to fix it. The representative explained that sometimes these updates leave issues that create glitches with other sync modes and settings. They had to take sync back to factory settings several times to get the system completely clear of the issues the update caused. Then when they got the phone paired correctly, they had to transfer me to FordPass support to get FordPass re-installed because the update created a glitch in the FordPass re-install process. After FordPass was installed correctly it knocked the phone pairing process out of whack again, so they needed to do another system reset to get the phone paired back up.

The email looked promising but It looks to me like the engineers got the update installation process working more smoothly but didn't do that much with fixing sync's interaction and installation with some of its other modes and processes.

A plus came of this though...I read somewhere on this site that the vehicle location system was going to be eliminated with this update, but it appeared afterwards and is working OK. The Rep. assured me that it would not be going away! My insurance gives a discount for having a locator system in case the truck ever gets stolen :)

I noticed when I first updated mine the phone paired then dropped off half way home. I drove it again yesterday and all seemed to work well again. I forgot to connect it to CarPlay which I'll do next time but all else seems to be working good so far. My location works too from the app.

Dave, glad yours is working well and hope mine is fixed. There are probably some variables between types of phones and also phone provider services that can also affect sync's operation. Ford support evidently has ongoing experiences with customer sync problems.

I wish Ford would fix their web page so that a person could upload the xml file so they knew the updates have been done. I've been trying to send the info to them for nearly a month now. I always get a error message.
Glad I read your post @NeilP... I had not realized that xml file the update process creates is suppose to be uploaded on the web site. So I got the file from my Oct update, and uploaded to Ford, and now when I put in the VIN, it says I'm up-to-date. I'm sure the email I got was sent because of my failure to upload it. Still no new maps

Also @NeilP, the upload for me went without a hitch. Got any JAVA Script blockers in/on your browser?? I do and have to turn it off on the Ford site, then no issues.

Can you provide me with more info on the JAVA Script blockers. I have uBlock, ABP and Malwarebytes all turned off for Ford.com.

Just did mine via wifi. Amazingly easy and no drama as opposed to the usb I used last time. Although I have yet to see any difference, hopefully my maps are updated in nav.

I think the Nav you have to pay for. I remember getting an email a while back where you could either do it through wifi of send away for a thumb drive. Like you I didn't notice any difference besides the color changed to blue.

I thought I had saved the email but couldn't find it. I thought there was an option for a free version but I could be confusing that with the free Sync updates. Here's what I found on the Ford website. Looks like there's a charge for it.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Years!!

To purchase a Ford map update, visit the Ford map update site. Select your vehicle model and year from the dropdown menu and the appropriate update will appear. Add the map update to your cart and proceed to checkout.

You have a choice to pay for a USB stick with the map update or download the files to your own memory stick for free. (Unless they very recently changed it, I downloaded the map update for free).

I have not updated my 2019 Lariat since new. Not sure I would know how to.
Any significant reasons to update?

I hadn't updated mine either since I bought it in July 2019. I did it the other day and besides the blue screen accents I haven't noticed anything significantly different yet. If you do it just be patient as it does take a long time seeing as it's never been done. Mine took almost a full 24 hours before the new update popped up.

Just go into the main screen settings and look for Sync, updates.

I use NoScript in Firefox and by default, it blocks all but the top domain of the website. Then I look at the drop down list of other sites that have been set to run scripts (doubleclick, amazonads, cookielaw, etc.) and either allow on a temp basis or permanently ( ranger5g.com, permanently; googletagmanger.com as temp and only on ranger5g.com site).

On the Ford site, there are a few more... but you only need to select some of them to get the site to work properly and still have some modest amount of privacy.

I am sure there are other add-ons of this type, but NoScript seems to be the most popular. Available for Firefox and Chrome, not sure about Edge.

PS: Yes, available for Edge as well.
